Something is definitely off. You should pull the crank and inspect that Bottom bracket spindle. I’ve never seen one bend that wasn’t hit by a car or something equally catastrophic. My guess is that your crank is damaged somehow. I would trade the mallet for an 8mm Allen wrench and a pair of crank pullers.

  2. Just bring it to a shop. There’s a lot of factors here that can be your issue and none of them can realistically be diagnosed here. Your potential issues are:

    1. Bent spider
    2. Bent bottom bracket spindle
    3. Worn bottom bracket.

All 3 require specialized tools to fix, but 2 and 3 are by far the cheapest since both just require a new BB. If you have a bent spider, you will need a new crankset

It could be bent chainrings or a bb related issue but could it also be intentional to help with shifting? I’m looking at the small rings without the chain in place and they seem to mimic the same directional movement.
