First time trying clipless pedals and I got these from the thrift. I thought they should fit SPD-SL pedals, but they don’t seem to fit together. If they aren’t compatible, am I able to purchase the proper clips and use them with these shoes?

Are you sure you have SPD-SL pedals? If you are very sure, then these don’t look like the right cleats. I would guess they are Look Keo Delta cleats (an older system).
Look cleats and SPD cleats appear very similar, but aren’t compatible. That might be what’s up here.
But yes, those shoes will fit the correct cleats.
Those are Look cleats, they won’t work with SPD-SL pedals. But those shoes will fit SPD-SL cleats just fine. Most shops should have a pair for sale.
those are not shimano spd-sl pedal compatible cleats. you either need look pedals or shimano cleats
no idea what pedals you got
They look to me like Campy cleats, but I could be wrong. I’m too lazy right now to go look at mine to compare.
They look like peloton cleats
Those don’t look right for Look or Shimano
Those are “Delta Cleats”. It will fit old school Look pedals and several other brands (Look, Campagnolo, Shimano, Offbrand, etc.), but they are ‘Delta.”
They will not work with Shiman SPD-SL nor will they work with Look Keo (the look similar).
Those are cheap Chinese knock off look cleats. They certainly will not fit spd pedals and may not actually fit Look pedals.
WTF is that?
They look like old style “Deltas” that I still use.
Those are Look cleats. Not compatible with SPD-SL pedals.
These are look delta
You should get shimano cleats
They’re Looks. All I’ve ever ridden since moving to clipless. But, as others have said, not going to work with SPDs (I’ve tried a few different times). So, you need new pedals or cleats.
These are peloton bike cleats
