New to mountain biking and recently picked up a used Scott hard tail (first pic). Someone local is asking to trade their Specialized full suspension mountain bike (second pic) for my bike. The trade is 1:1 and I was under the impression that full suspension bikes were really expensive. Should I be cautious about the trade?

Yes I would be very cautious. That specialized looks pretty old and in rough shape. For starters, the cables/hoses are all hanging pretty loose. Fork looks like a cheap one as well. I wouldn’t do this trade, your bike looks nicer.

That specialized is wayyyy over the hill and I would not be surprised if literally no-one would be willing to service the rear shock. Basically, the FS guy is scamming you. Your Scott is much better.
