If you can’t fix the problem with duct tape, you aren’t using enough duct tape.

  2. There is, or was, a whole profession fixing stuff like this: cobbler, or shoemaker. Rare these days, but saved my shoes multiple times.

Probably caught it on one of the shin killing pedal pins..looks just slightly too high up to be worn out, unless its a poor quality suede, and stretched due to pressure from pedaling.
Quick fix..find a bit of suede or fabric, and if the hole has gone all the way through you can patch it from inside the shoe, with some good contact cement.
If its not gone through the fabric liner, then slap some contact cement behind the rip and stick it down..wont be pretty, but you should get a few more ‘send it ‘ days out of them.

If you don’t have any shoe goo a hot glue gun works really well.  I used to reinforce all my skate shoes with hot glue back in the 90’s.  Holds better than the original glue.

Buy shoes with a wider toebox. Almost every standard pair of shoes I’ve ever owned has ripped here. I can only get wide sizes if I want them to last.

  6. Three options:

Glue (specific for shoes, specific for this material

resistant tape (optional in this color)

Sew it, get a good cordle and strong needle and have strong fingers, maybe ask a strong person to do it if its really hard (I did this once like 7 or 8 years ago, I like it, because it makes it personal

This got torn on something and you didn’t notice? Maybe a rock strike when you were riding and noticed it next time you rode? If you replace it, stay away from that material again, it’s proven itself already to not be up to task.

use some shoe goo if you dont care how it looks. if you do care just buy new ones.

Tape will fall off eventually, glue won’t hold. Just ride and start saving for new shoes.

  10. I have a hole on each side of each shoe and still rocking them. They’re strong enough to keep going. Unless you just don’t like the appearance, keep sending with them.

  11. Back in the 80’s when our vans would rip due to grip tape skating, we’d sew a patch, then hit it with some shoe goo

If you go to the shoe store you should be able to buy another pair without a hole. Hope that helps.
