I’ve had this kilo tt for a while now. It comes with a 44T chainring and 16T cog. I ride occasionally and I want to change the gear ratio to something a little more faster top speed. I’m not too familiar with gear ratios I did some research but it’s a bit confusing can someone explain to easily understand? I rode with a buddy and he rides 46T/16T and his seemed a tiny bit faster and I’m assuming it’s because his gear ratio. We ride in the city so hills aren’t really an issue. I was considering changing my chainring to 44T would that even make a difference? If you guys have any recommendations to upgrade the chainring pls send links. Also how do I know what chainring will fit on my bike? Sorry I’m new to any upgrades. Thanks.

I use [this](https://www.bikecalc.com/archives/speeds-at-cadence.html) site to play around with gear ratios and potential speed. Looks lie a standard track style crank so any 144bcd chainring should work.
For chain ring bigger you go the harder the push but more power and leverage. For cog smaller things spin faster. So you can make a small cog spin really fast with the more leverage and power you can put in. I run 49×15, hills can burn the legs but flats and down hill I find it perfect for both fast rips and chill cruises.
Someone will certainly explain how ratios work better than me. I’m too tired to explain it sorry lol.
But what I can say is that increasing the number of teeth on your chainring will increase speed. I’d recommend looking for a 47t chainring. 47/16 is a popular ratio. When looking for a replacement you need to make sure it’s compatible with your cranks. They have a BCD measurement, which you can often find either on the old chainring, or engraved on the cranks, (often on the inside)
Hope some of this helps.
