Were you able to appreciate those crowds actually as you’re going up the M market? Were you able to take any of that in? I took all of it in. Did you? I think it was uh absolutely amazing. I think all the people that came out to the streets to Chilazan absolutely loved it. I also think that we need to underline two things. Uh the fact that um today honored yellow jersey and uh kept his focus and uh raised this stage. gave it all all the way all the way to the end. I think this is uh something that anyone else in his skin wouldn’t wouldn’t possibly risk and then uh yeah I think second thing is I think it was the right call to neutralize the GC gives gives a better show for everyone uh whoever wants to have a one last go and who’s whoever is willing to risk everything because it’s really dangerous. There’s no no way no no way around it. uh it is what it is has a proper go and we have a super nice stage to watch in TV and whoever is on their hands and knees and believe me there are many riders who are on their hands and knees after 21 days of racing like this uh had uh yeah just could enjoy the atmosphere and the the final and I think I think it was uh yeah absolutely spectacular to

  1. Agree with both points. Mohoric is such a class act. Very articulate. His comments about Pogi are from the heart and from within the peloton – love hearing his viewpoint.

  2. I was on the Montmatre…the bike handling in those conditions was mind blowing! Chapeau to WvA for the victory and to Pogi for being an actual bike racer, too. Great stuff! MM is baller as well…

  3. I've been watching the TdF every year since the early 80's. I think this was a great change from the typical sprint stage on the Champs. I can understand how the sprinters are disappointed but as a fan this was much more interesting IMO.

  4. Hopefully it changes forever, the bunch sprints every single year got boring, this was pure excitement. Like he said they neutralized the GC which was everyone's fear

  5. Totally.

Pogacar honoured the Yellow jersey to ride up the Montmartre climbs (in all 3 circuits) to give the fans in the street and the world that racing is about spirit as well as prowess.

Mohorich is also right in agreeing that the GC standings were set before the dangerous Montmartre climb after 20 hard day of cycling.

This gave those that want to try their last glory opportunity without too much risks to everyone.

I hope the TeF does keep the Montmartre climbs from now for all final stage of the race.

However perhaps have the Montmartre climbs (3 passages) after just the first circuit of Champs Elysees and then after the climbs have 3 more passages of traditional Champs Elysees before ending it.

Also have the final GC standings set after the first circuit on Champs Elysees before Montmartre climbs to reduce risks.

This way, opportunities of winning on Champs Elysees could be for breakaways, climbers, time trailers and sprinters more evenly.

  6. He speaks very well. Bring him in as a pundit when he retires. We need to a team who, over time could replace in our hearts that much lamented ITV team

  7. Totally agree. The only people who might be unhappy with that type of stage 21 at the Tour would be the sprinters. But, for everyone else — spectators and riders alike — that was amazing!

  8. For Tadej to pull the climb for all those laps, even if he'd just backed off at the top and sat up on the 3rd lap, still would have been an incredible show of support for the fans of the sport! To sit in an urban cycling arena & see the guy who dominated 3 weeks of racing rip up that wall of a climb 3 times…that will inspire kids to be fans for a lifetime. They won't even realize that's not normal.
They will simply aspire to do the very same!
