I’m in the process of building out an old-school bmx for my son. I am curious about how to put in an upgraded crank set. I don’t want to use the old pressed on front sprocket. Not sure if there is an insert or something I need to get to use a modern crank. Any advice would be welcome.

U need a modern crank depending how old the cranks are the older ones are smaller I believe
USA sealed bb kit is required, most of those come in 19mm axle size so make sure to select a 3pc crankset in that axle size also. You’ll also need new pedals as 1pc crankset uses 1/2” threads, 3pc uses 9/16”
