Hi folks, how you doing? Yes, this is more like it. This is the type of videos that I’ve wanted to make. I’ve been out and about on the ebike exploring Telford and it’s been fantastic. Absolutely loving it and it really helps. Uh I tell you what though, this is a track that I’ve not been on before. I believe this is the original road, the A5 that goes into Wellington. You’ll see the church on the left. The new road is now as high as the church roof. And we’re in what I imagine was once a nice little hollowway that went into Wellington. I wonder how many people have walked down here over the years. It’s still quite quaint uh in its own unique way and to be fair, I’d quite like to live down here. It’s very secluded. It’s my type of place. Uh but yeah, uh I loved it. There there was had a bit of a vibe to it. This I could well imagine walking down here in medieval times and rather than seeing people having a crafty spliff, I see people, you know, with cart and horse and taking their wares into Wellington to trade it on market day. I don’t know. I bet there weren’t underpasses back then either. No, me neither. I’ve been a fox about. So, my plan has been to get myself and Sandra out on the bikes. Obviously, I need the ebike cuz I can’t pedal uphill. Uh Sandra’s has a normal bike, no ebike, and she hasn’t been on the ebike yet. So, we went into Wellington and I was a bit surprised because Sandra picked a I said to her, “Where do you want to go?” And we were like, “We’re going to pick a cafe and we’re going to go for breakfast.” Now, the plan was to have a gentle ride. And I picked a cafe in Dory cuz I’d seen a cheap bacon sandwich for 2 pound50. And I thought, let’s go and get cheap bacon sandwiches. Sandra was like, I’ve seen the best cafe in Telford. Uh, and it’s in Wellington. Let’s go to Wellington. And I thought, well, fair enough. You haven’t been on a bike for a while, Sandra, but let’s go. Needless to say, it was a bit of a jaunt. Uh, and I don’t think Sandra was uh was uh was quite prepared for just how hilly it is uh from our house to Wellington. Uh and then I reminded her that actually uh it was slightly downhill for a lot of the way uh only with a few hills and uh we we got more hills to come on the way back. Now my ebike has five settings. So, if I put it on five, it’s essentially like a little mini moped where as long as I keep the uh pedals turning, it will do 15 mph uh until the battery is dead. But I like to keep it on one or two. So, basically, I’m doing a bit of exercise, doing a bit of exercise. I’m having a bit of exercise uh and the battery is doing a bit of work for me. Uh because just, like I said, I struggle with the hills. So, uh going up this hill here, I’ve just got this on the one setting. So, this is I don’t know, this is probably 50% Ross power, 50% bike power. And I’m I’m mainly doing this because obviously poor Sandra behind me uh she’s doing it all Sandra power. U and uh bless her. She did really well. Um and I’m not trying to patronize her in any way. It’s just she generally has not been on a bike for years. So it’s hard work when you haven’t been on a bike for a while. I mean I’ve been on my ebike now for the best part of, you know, four or five months. So I’m kind of used to that, you know, situation. And these folks were really used to it. Bombing past us. No ebikes either. No ebikes. Yes. So, we made it to Sophia’s and uh it was it was actually a nice ride. It was for me on an ebike. Yeah. Uh Sandra was in desperate need of a cup of tea to be fair. And uh I I did I did feel I did feel bad. I you know it’s like one of those things where I got there all nice and refreshed and felt great cuz you know I essentially had deal dealt with any hills. Um and poor old Sandra dealt with many. If you’re in Wellington, pop in Sophia is it was a banging calf. Absolutely loved it. Uh we had two pots of tea, two apple juices. Uh Sandra had a I think an egg and mushroom and tomato sandwich. I had my usual uh two eggs, two toast, two bacon. Um, I can’t remember how much it was, but it was well under 20 quid. Uh, and then on the way back, uh, I remembered that I need to pop into that pub. So, if you want a video about a pub, comment below. Uh, cuz that used to be a nice little pub to get a real alien, but I don’t know what it’s like anymore. But anyway, on the way home, me and Sandra decided that uh, we’d change bikes. Uh, she hadn’t been on the ebike yet. She wanted to go and, you know, there was a few hills going back. And to be fair, I wanted to have a little go on u just riding a normal bike again because I used to ride normal bikes all the time and then obviously I stopped and I thought I’ll give it a whirl and I can always push for a bit if I struggle, can’t I? That’s a bit sense. Ross, this doesn’t fit. No. No. Oh, for God’s sake. I might need one because it’s just needs to go up. That’s That’s ridiculous. I might as well trade you, might I? But yeah, I reckon they put that in together too close cuz this bike has fit through all the others around. So the truth is we had a lovely little morning bike ride. Uh and it was really enjoyable going home. There was plenty of downhill bits that we really got to like uh be kids again and stand up and whoosh down the hills. And as you can see from the footage, there was plenty of times we stopped to take on some water and have a bit of a rest. Uh, and it did make me appreciate my ebike and how much uh it helps me. And I did feel for Sandra. But just one more hill, Sandra. Just one more.

  1. Love Sophias, but for me The Steaming Mug, near the Orbit does the best breakfasts..

    Hey Ros,
Also got an eBike.. Not been round much this year, but I use Komoot on my phone to track the routes:) Like you, that bit of extra boosts means I'm able to cycle without stressing.
Great vid, I ought to do some more film biking. Maybe with a 360 camera if I can clear some other stuff first 🙂

  2. I've complained about that barrier.. For a council that wants people healthy, and runs annual cycle/adapted bike events.
you woulnt get a trike through. I was told it wwas installed to prevent ASB from people offroading on motorbikes..
I had to sort of twist my handlbars and part life my bike.
