Hey all, I just recently bought an old Trek 820 Mountain Track but having a bit of buyer’s remorse about the purchase.
I am going to be using the bike for commuting and casual strolls around town and parks. The bike is currenty equipped with some 26” knobby tires that I want to swap for some hybrid tires. The frame is cro-moly steel.
I carry the bike up to my condo on the second floor; it’s doable but I’m wondering several things:
– I found another old Trek 7000 on marketplace with an aluminum frame, made in the US, and looks to be in better condition than my 820 (awesome color too). Since I already plan on swapping tires, will this frame be better for my needs?
– Or should I put tire and Trek 7000 money toward something like an FX?
Appreciate any and all help and comments. I’m rather new to biking and if I left out any pertinent details, please let me know.
