Yes, looks like the metal insert for the axle moved. You need to see a bike shop, it is not safe to ride.

Is that a thru axle setup? My guess is that the axle was tightened too much (or poor tolerances) and the right side is pressing against the carbon or paint. Kinda stupid design IMHO.
Is this damage concerning? It could be just paint. Or damaged carbon. Take it to the shop to get assessed.

You shouldnt ride that. The outline is of the bolt holding the axle in.

Is this a Canyon?
I ask because my partner once got a Canyon Grizl that had some of the frame mounts covered over and painted, sort of like they left the tape in place. It looked kinda like this, except for just a small screw mount.
Normally I wouldn’t expect the end of a TA to be closed like this, they are typically open, so it makes me wonder if something not-right was done during masking/painting/etc resulting in it being covered by something weak, painted, and the paint cracking during normal use.
What does it look like from the inside of the fork with the axle removed? Does it appear to be carbon at the bottom of that hole, or some sort of masking tape/paper?

Play safe and take it to a decent bike shop. I wouldn’t ride that as it looks like the axle has penetrated too far/bottomed out damaging the layup.

That fork is toasted

It’s paint damage, there might be carbon damage under the paint but difficult to say. If the frame is under warranty then I would use that, if no warranty I would start off by removing the paint from that area and looking at the carbon underneath

What make is this bike? Just wondering because all of your posts are about carbon flaking and scratches on this exact bike…
Not sure if your bicycle simply is a lemon but things add up for you quite a bit
This is definitely not normal for carbon bikes 😅

Such an engineering fail, all to pretend it gives some “aero benefit”

I bet they highlight that feature in marketing as well 🙁
whoever made that owes you a new fork

Holy smokes 😨
If I were you I would bring this back to the dealer, claim a refund and would never come back…
You paid 6k, got chipping paint on the rear dropout and now this? Unacceptable no matter what they are going to tell that it might be safe (which at least the fork is not IMHO)

Thé first time I saw this trend being a thing for « aero » benefit I immediately thought « hope they have some kind of fail safe so the axle can’t protide longer than it should »
It’s such a stupid trade, it’s in the same garbage category as hookless rims

I’d have it checked again just to be sure.
