Hello guys!
I'm looking for a bike to put my stuff on and set off on multi-day trips around my country (Croatia) in these warm months, and on some shorter trips and camping around in the colder ones.

Most of trips would be roads, but knowing myself hehehehe, I would turn onto some gravel or forest road at the first opportunity, no difficult terrain, but light off-road certainly, for pure joy. I'm not interested in speed and chasing, comfort and carrying capacity and a slow excursion pace are my priorities.

I'm wondering if you have experience with this bike? I have opportunity to buy it 2nd hand for good money (500eur). I have no experience with a belt instead of a chain (do you feel the difference at all, or is it just convenient for maintenance?), and I see that it has an Alfine 8, gears in the hub, which is also new to me! How does it feel with the Alfine, are the low gears enough to overcome hills? Or if I get this bike, will I be looking at the hills more out of the train window haha.
And, in general, if anyone has any advice, is this a good bike choice for what I would like?
What modifications would make trips even more comfy and easygoing?

p.s. It would be awesome if anyone could recomend some websites or subreddits/ fb groups where I could find 2nd racks and similar accessories!

Thank you šŸ˜€

  1. Looks like it has very few mounts on the fork and the frame. I’m sure it can take the added stress of Bikepacking without worries, but fewer mounts means you will pack very back-heavy which can create problems with handling and wear of components.

    I would say no.
Mainly because of the limited gear range of the Alfine. It is also fairly heavy.

I have a bike with the same Alfine and it is great for city riding and the like but I would not take it for a longer tour.
