I have a Canyon Torque CF7 and I would like to improve parts on my bike…one of the faults of my bike is that when climbing it is really exhausting, and I had thought about changing the rims for lighter rims (carbon or aluminum), the one mounted on it is DT Swiss FR2080 and from what I saw in other Reddit posts is that they are really not great and fragile (which is the case because when doing simple descents I already have play in my rear wheel in less than 8 months) and I wanted to have your opinion and if you had a reference to recommend to me?

Ps: I would like to change my transmission for an X0 t-type (is it worth it?)

Thanks for all!!

  1. As far as climbing being exhausting goes, crank up the compression damping when you’re climbing and hit the gym. I wouldn’t worry about your rims being “fragile” unless you actually find you break something. In which case an upgrade would be warranted. What exactly do you mean by play in the rear wheel? Is your wheel bent? Is the hub blown out and wobbly?

Personally I have trouble calling any drivetrain “worth” $1600 so that depends on whether you’ve got money to blow.

As far as climbing sucking. Yeah, it sucks lol. BUT! I’ve been riding my spectral once a week for the last 5 months, and my buddy who started riding around the same time got an ebike a couple months ago. He would always torch me on climbs, because motor, duh. But he brought out the analog bike on our last trip and he was absolutely dying, meanwhile I’m climbing in 4th gear, yapping away about my morning like its no big deal. Long walk for a short drink but just keep riding. I was blown away how much faster and stronger I’ve gotten in less than 6 months of once a week riding.
