I was tuning my front derailleur and kept messing it up thinking the downshift it too slow. Until I realized that the reason for that is not the cage alignment, but the fact that the cable releases very slowly from the shifter.
It almost feels like a soft close drawer effect, like it would be intentional. Which doesn’t make much sense.
Bad shifter, right?

or gunked up cable housing / components.
Either the shifter is gunked up or the cable/housing is. I would start by changing the cable and housing, if that doesn’t help then you need to clean the shifter, old lubricants harden over time so this is pretty normal, usually they free up just fine.
Your barrel adjuster is way too far out for one. Based on that you should probably just go to a shop.
