It’s a calm morning in Hemel Hempstead, the kind that promises a peaceful day out. With walking shoes laced and a sense of quiet excitement, we join the Grand Union Canal near Boxmoor. The water glistens softly under a sky that’s doing its best impression of summer, clouds drifting lazily above. There’s a hum of life—distant bird calls, the occasional bicycle bell, and the gentle shuffle of our footsteps on the towpath.

The canal is a ribbon of history cutting through the Hertfordshire countryside, and as we settle into our pace, it feels like time slows with the flow of the water. Narrowboats line the banks—some painted in cheerful reds and greens, others with pots of flowers on their roofs, giving a lived-in charm. We pass anglers seated quietly, their lines resting in the water like questions waiting for answers.

Every so often, a lock appears, reminding us of the engineering marvel this canal once was—and still is. We watch a couple work their boat through, the creaking of the lock gates mixing with a bit of friendly chatter. There’s a sense of community here, calm and unhurried.

The walk is framed by weeping willows, reeds, and bursts of wildflowers. Moorhens and ducks skitter out of our way, and we even spot a heron standing sentinel on a submerged log, eyeing the water for lunch. The greenery shifts from open fields to wooded stretches, creating a natural rhythm to the journey.

As we approach Bourne End and Winkwell, we stop for a break near the swing bridge—one of the quirks of this route.

Cuz like when when we did this walk the other day, I was in trainers. I found it hard going the surface, wasn’t it? Yeah, it was. Yeah, that’s I think it’s always worth buying yourself a pair of trainers and stuff. You know, proper walking shoes that is and then I am denied about putting them on cuz they are a bit heavy. But it was either that or struggle with the trainers. Well, I’ve got a new pair of trainers, but I want to keep them for like going out and stuff like that. But that that ride yesterday was hard work. That was a long old run, was it? What? 21 miles. Oh, the London one was. Yeah, but yesterday Oh, no. Yeah, yesterday was the one around Western and whatnot. Yeah, that was cuz I cuz cuz I went um up to Clothall Common then across to the A505. Morning. Morning. Cow banga field the burn. And then um over the A4 is it 505? Yeah. And then chat DB is great for writing descriptions for our [ __ ] videos. Great, isn’t it? I love it. And um and then you go down past this field where they fly um radio uh control planes and [ __ ] And then you can go left and it’ll lead to the Bunting Road. Yeah. Or you can go right up this freaking hill. Yeah. Which I have done in Western. Yeah. Yeah. which which I have done before. And um I always just manage to get up the hill by the skin of my teeth because I don’t think that bike is really designed for going up those type of hills cuz obviously it’s got big fat wide tires. Yeah. Well, I think if you’re going to do that, I think can you lock out the suspension? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You probably want to lock out the suspension when you’re going uphill. But then you got to get off and you know and um but I’ve always managed to get up it but um but I got 3/4 of the way. I did better than I thought. And then I got to chatting to a fellow who had just come off one of the bridal ways with um he had a a Trek electric bike and I was just talking to him. It’s amazing how you can just We were just chatting. I just I used to get up this hill blah blah blah bike blah blah. But um but then when you get goes right down and that was a nice ride, but I had to make sure that I I had to keep an eye on the brakes cuz cuz sometimes those roads are a little bit grally. And if you’re coming down if you’re coming going down that hill even at say 10 miles an hour and you come off, it’s going to [ __ ] hurt. God. And then you just cross the road and then um can’t remember what the I think I passed through a little village and then that leads on to Western and then you can turn off and that t brings you back into Bulldog or you can carry on and that brings you down to that um that big hill and then that brings you into um the the gravely turn off. Yeah. So then it was along the long about and into town and I I had to have I had to have a drink and I thought while I’m here I’ll have a chicken wrap. Yeah. I looked at that again. Um yeah I looked [ __ ] you’re starting by going uphill. I thought that’s going to kill you straight as soon as you come out of Bulldog. You’re straight onto the climb. It’s just each day. Well, I don’t think I I don’t think I did a a ride on Tuesday, but Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I did um instead of going like straight home, I I went um I went um kind of like took the scenic route home. Hello. Hello. Good morning. There’s a couple baby morphs. Are they that big bird that we just saw? No, they’re uh they’re a small one. A black one with a little red beak. They’ll be their mum which is around. That first one was a corn baby. Wow. I mean, this bit we can walk through reasonably quickly. Yeah, cuz we did it the other day. Yeah. But once we get beyond that um that junkyard bit, it’s all going to be new. [Applause] cuz on Sunday I was going to go as far as Wembley, but um part of the canal they had closed. So it had like a you know a facade up so I could because what I was going to do was I was going to go far as Wembley along the canals get off our ch around can um Wembley and then um just follow a bus back into town but um I had to turn Okay. [Applause] Yeah. If the weather’s kind of nicer next week or sometime, we’ll have to do one. Like I said, they got that free kind of trail thing with O2. They do them anywhere, you know. It says they got I mean, they had 130 trails in London, but they got a load in Oxford, Cambridge, Cycle trails. No, just walking trails. All right. They reckon they take about 3 and 1 half hours or so, I think they said. I thought something like that might be a, you know, a fun little distraction cuz obviously I think they must be pointing out things of interest along the way cuz you’re supposed to be, you know, it’s a game, you know, you got to there’s clues and I suppose you’ve got to find signs or buildings or place names. I don’t know. But, you know, to find the end. I thought, well, that sounds like a laugh. might make a Hello Sunday. So, I thought if the weather’s only like this, we could just do London, which isn’t too bad to get. No, cuz the thing is if we get if we um say we said we’ll go up on uh Saturday afternoon and um we’ll um we’ll go along the region’s canal, you know, the good thing is if it starts raining Oh yeah, look. One day someone’s going to eat you. They’re not edible ducks. But um the good thing about that if it starts raining you can get off it and get on a bus. Yeah. And go somewhere and you know wander around a museum or something. You just missed seeing how they actually raise them up from one level to the next. So you talk about it last time. All right, fella. All right. Hello. That’ be nice just to like get on that and just sit on the sit on the roof. Yeah. Cuz when we went to Burke camp before, didn’t we eat in the spoons? I think so. Yeah, pretty sure we did. Oh, sorry, Dave. I know. I’m trying to do the first half fast. Are you shut up? So that um the second half was more leisurely. Yeah. I can’t wait to get home and tell mom that I was I was I was just strolling along with me in pockets stored along in Jameson. I’m trying to do the first bit. I think that is the kind of my uncle had but the cousins now inherited. All right. Okay. I like that very much. So Hog Hogan had a heart attack then. Did he look turned into a splat? The only story I followed this week other than the Aussie story was um Trump definitely being a pedo and then uh Jeff signed paperwork that Glenn what’s her name? Delane Maxwell or his girlfriend. I’ll be up for a bit of that. Oh yeah, she’s quite cool. I get the impression she likes her dirty as well. Certainly. I mean the stories they were telling about her when she was doing criminal. She was roing all these teenage well teenage and young girls into uh sex cuz she was seducing these girls and then sitting there saying, “Oh, you should come back and meet my boyfriend.” [ __ ] like that. So she was [ __ ] girls and teenage girls. That’s my kind of woman. I don’t think those papers will ever come out cuz I mean that’s the president of the United States and Prince Andrew, the the brother of the king of England that are both likely to be in there. And I think that’s an awful lot of very powerful people that are going to be sitting there saying, “I really don’t, you know, plus all of the others.” I think those things will disappear. That will never come to light. Or if it does, it’ll all be [ __ ] [ __ ] We all had jelly and ice cream parties and Bible verses around the camper. Have you ever been a drink before? Yes. Took the kids there once, took them to the museum, but it’s a natural hippo animal museum, but it’s kind of it’s old Victorian and it’s full of stuffed animals. All right. So kids didn’t really like they liked some of it, but I think they kind of got a bit freaked out by some of it, you know, kind of the thing is some animals, doesn’t matter how well they’re, you know, they’re done, they they just look weird. Yeah. How are your shoes? So far so good. Cuz like last week I could feel like every stone, you know what I mean? Is the train station at training fairly central? I think so. I’m not I think it’s at the far end of the canal, but um yeah, I think by the turn it’s long and narrow. It’s just kind of right. It’s just built along the side of the canal really. [Applause] Well, we’ll definitely get our 10,000 steps in today. We only have to do another Oh, yeah. It’s just under two miles today uh to get in my my miles for the for the month. So, I like 165 miles a month just to get me to 2,000 miles at the end of the year. And I was down for two miles this morning. Yeah, I know. Oh. That’s so cool. What do you think? So you was pleasantly pleasantly surprised by Superman. Yeah. Yeah. I really actually I quite enjoyed it. I mean it had its faults. I thought Superman was a little bit too goody goody as you. But that’s my regular problem with [ __ ] Superman. This is why I like the Henry Caval one because I think he was a little bit more human. Not human word, but he was a little bit more like a regular person with the fact that he kind of got mad with people and stuff like that. Whereas a regular Superman is always such a bloody nice guy. It’s kind of Oh, Lex, you know what I mean? Whereas Cav was [ __ ] sake, Lex. Yeah, exactly. You’re already beginning to get on my [ __ ] what’s winter real estate. Yeah. Yeah. I don’t think they’ll ever pop the Henry Cav. I think that was really good. But I enjoyed it. I still enjoy I thought it was good fun. It was better than I thought the trailers look bloody awful. I thought all the different clips on the trailers I couldn’t work out what the story was going to be. Yeah. Cuz one minute you had a giant [ __ ] alien, then you had something else, then you had I thought, is there any bloody cohesion to the story at all? But it all made sense, other than the fact Lex Luthor can make a giant [ __ ] alien, you know? Why the hell does he want to invade a country and take it over if he can build giant aliens, you know? Surely all he needs to do is build a dozen of them and just set them off somewhere. There you go. The bad girl was hot. Yeah, she was nice. I don’t know where she was from or but um she was a nice looking woman. Yeah. Oh, apparently you know Supergirl turned up at the end to collect her. Yeah. Apparently there’s going to be a movie with her as well. Really? Yeah. It’s still in development. Actually, that might be quite funny cuz if she’s obviously a raging drunk. Yeah. Then that might make it a bit more of an engaging story. I like I like the dark DC stuff, the Henry Caval Superman, the first Wonder Woman, the first bloody Aquaman, the Dark Knight movies. They were even the ones with um Ben Affleck. I quite enjoyed, you know. I thought he he made quite a good Batman. But um Oh, and that the latest Batman, the one with um the pretty boy, whatever his name, Robert Patterson. I thought that was really good as well. Yeah, I liked them when they’re darker, you know, when they’re a little bit too family friendly. It’s kind of a bit too separate for me. When when the Batman films are a little too Clooney. Yeah. Oh god. Mind you, I always like to see anyone on interviews apologizing. The thing is though, you can see why he took it. Oh yeah, lots of money. You know, you you know, he’s just come off ER. You know, the last couple of Batman films have been really big. It’s a good way to start your movie career. Yeah. You know, if they’re going to give him $10 million to be, why not? You know, you don’t anyone coming straight out of a TV show, we would have to think twice about not taking it. You know, you’d have to be a serious kind of artist. Mind you, the amount of um the amount of like proper proper actors that do superhero movies, you know what I mean? You you know like Ian Mckllen. Ian Mckllen. Um [ __ ] Patrick Stewart. He’s a proper actor. Patrick Stewart, Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddston. Um there’s loads of proper actors in there. I know we’ve said this before. You know, at the end of the day, you know, they they got to work for a living. Oh, yeah. Still got to make money. And I’m sure those superhero movies for the mo unless you’re paying one of the buff ones where you got to spend a year in training to start, they must be I mean for for Ian Mckllen and people and um Patrick Stewart and stuff like that where they haven’t really got to do a whole hell of a lot other than learn their lines and go like that. Yeah. You know. Yeah. Cuz most of the time all they got to do is go like that. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. Even the kind of magnetos he’s not doing anything is he really does do that. Yeah. The thing is um say it takes you know if they’re going to offer me $15 million to do a superhero movie and I got to spend 6 months eating right and going to the gym. That is fair enough. Oh yeah. But this is the thing. I mean if you’re a few few uh thingies jack them I mean it’s got can only be a bonus to sit there and say oh no I like I like being hand anyway but this lot are going to pay me millions to get they will pay for the training and everything involved they’ll pay for the personal trainer and the nutritionist. Yeah, cuz the thing is also I think with if you’re going to get a huge huge Jack Atman bar, you got to eat like regular like every few hours. Yeah. And the thing is it’s food. I mean I I used to follow that, you know, um guy called the beast. He’s I can’t remember his name. Um he’s the world’s strongest or he was the world’s strongest man. Forgot his name. Has he got a beard? Yeah. Yeah, can’t miss him. He’s [ __ ] mad. But he made some quite funny videos. I used to watch a few of them, but they had stuff about, you know, what is it you eat every day like six or eight times a day, but it’s just rice and boiled chicken for nine out of 10 of a, you know, [ __ ] that. Yeah, exactly. But then then again 15 million quid for you know like two years work and to come out looking like that you know it’s amazing how quickly they lose it all though isn’t it? Oh well this is a thing you know takes 5 minutes to lose it bloody two oh two years at least to get it and you got to start from a fairly good place. I mean because like it I mean if you look at um Hugh Jackman in the first one, he wasn’t really buff at all. No, I know. There was loads of pictures of like sort of what he looked like 20 years ago compared to the last one. And they were sitting there the bit on the internet was sitting there saying, “How come superhero movies have changed from just a big guy, you know, to being oh no, everybody has to look like a [ __ ] Hulk.” Basically, it never used to be that. The thing is like I think he was nicely bath. Yeah. Exactly. You know what I mean? He wasn’t all kind of [ __ ] Yeah. Exactly. You know where it affects your mobility. You know what I mean? I think I think he was the sort of muscular person women like. Well, I mean obviously they women liked him, but I think he’s the sort of um muscly where um where um women like that. You know what I mean? This is the thing. I mean, I was looking at um some stuff like that. Something was down there and as we walked past moved very It might have been a little duck move. Um and there was a load of like interviews with women and stuff sitting there saying, “What do you prefer?” like who Hugh Jackman in the first X-Men film or Hugh Jackman now where he’s absolutely ripped and most were sitting there saying I preferred him then he just looked good you know he looked like he worked out and he wor you know pretty much 99% of the women were sitting there going no you look at that and you sit there and think that man will be no fun because all he thinks about is what he eats and when he works yeah I know but given the choice what would you rather be oh yeah well I’d be quite happy just to sit there and say I’d look like the first huge Jackman. You know, that’d be all right. That’s a nice old morning. I think this is maybe the sort of work work job walk where we say, “Yeah, we’ll definitely be in the at so and so by such and such.” And then it don’t happen. Yeah, cuz we get sidetracked. Well, we got plenty of time. Yeah. That pub’s been there a few years. Yeah, I bet you you come down here on a hot sunny day in the summer. I bet this place is absolutely Yeah. You’d have to park in Heml and walk down here anyway, wouldn’t you? Why? Yeah. Well, I don’t know. work. Is that a parking space? pass across the road. I mean, I would definitely take Hugh Jackman bath over Arie bath. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz Arie, even at his basic stage, just it was all too much, wasn’t it? Really? You know, it’s just so much hard work. [Applause] [Applause] or even Ryan Reynolds bath. Yeah, Ryan Reynolds always looks good. And um who’s the other pretty boy? Brian [ __ ] God. Yeah, they always look good. I mean, but the thing is the annoying thing is they seem quite likable. Yeah. Have you seen the trailer for Ryan Gosling’s new movie? Is that the weird one? Is that where he’s a nerd? No. One where he’s an astronaut. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You said a nurse. Nerd. Oh, a nurse. He was a nurse. Nerd. Yeah. Where? Yeah. I think we saw that at Superman. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it probably was. Yeah. Yeah, that looks quite good. I would I would love to look like Ryan [ __ ] uh Gossling. Yeah. Well, I think you cuz you know he makes girls drip like a [ __ ] faulty fridge. Oh yeah. Yeah. I bet he’s [ __ ] body count when he was going through bloody whatever his high school and college and whatnot. I bet he’s happily married. He probably is now. Yeah, but I bet his uh young and adventurous days were filled with [ __ ] fun. [Applause] Hia. Morning. How are you? Good. You? Yeah. Good. Are you recording yourself walking down the canal? I know. I know. I love that. Massive. It’s very nice, isn’t it? Hello my love. How are you? Yeah. This is nice, isn’t it? It’s like 40 minutes from home. I’m still tempted to come here one Saturday or Sunday when we not don’t do anything cuz um cuz I figured I could set out early, you know, spend if I could get here at 8:00 or 9, spend a few, you know, 4 hours on the um here cuz I’m not ready for a big ride yet. And then um go back to um cuz you got to change at London. I can’t remember. I’m pretty sure it’s Houston. And then I could spend a couple of hours there. London’s the other direction, isn’t it? Yeah. London’s that way. Milton Kees that way. How far is Milton Keane? on the I don’t know from here maybe 20 30 miles. Yeah, I ain’t walking that. Oh no, it’s too far to walk. I think cuz I thought late and buzzard didn’t look too far but when I looked at it that was getting on to about 20 miles. Yeah, that’s when I changed it to trim a bit closer. That’s a nice boat, isn’t it? Yeah, that one. Yeah. Hello. I might have to actually take my [ __ ] jumper off. Okay. Right. Favorite Star Trek bird, but you’re not allowed to say seven of what [ __ ] what [ __ ] series it even was. There was a security girl. Oh, there was the security Dax that had the leopard print down the side. Did you Did you see the episode where one of her lo symbient lovers was a woman? Probably. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz they kissed and it was hot. Yeah, I bet. And there was another one. Um I think it was in one of the more modern ones. Might have been Discovery maybe. Was it Enterprise and it was the check? Oh, she was nice. But no, cuz I think I watched about three episodes of that. [ __ ] hate it. Um, yeah, I think it might have been an earlier. No, I don’t think it was even discovered. What else come around? What else was that around that time? I don’t know. Well, where was it? There was a really hot chick like from there. But yeah, the guy paid back I think was lovely. Apparently, I don’t know if it was one of the later episodes of one of the offs spin-offs, her and dwarf get married. Yeah. Yeah, that was Yeah, cuz that was when he joined Deep Space 9. I never I kind of got bored with it. I said too nicey nicey again, you know. and kind of got a bit love style track, but in that sort of 90s thing, it was all just too nice and nice. That’s why I like the new stuff. The new Discovery and Strange New Worlds. I like them cuz they’re not, you know, they’re still nice. I mean, Strange New Worlds even had a musical episode was absolutely superb. Um, so but they’ve got a little bit more grip to them, you know. Yeah. Yeah. They’re still family friendly, but there’s a little bit more family friendly that we bit more betrayal and snarkiness and stuff like that. Just makes people a bit more realistic, right? Everybody [ __ ] future bored of um the next generation. I mean, I didn’t like it at the start because you had that bloody counselor. You had to have a counselor on the bridge. But she had nice babes. Yeah. Oh, yeah. She was cute. The thing is with the next gen, I did like it, but the first three seasons I don’t even bother with cuz I always have one episodes where someone beams up and they be they beam up some kind of pathogen and then they all start sleeping with each other. You get that in every everyone. But um but it’s after the best of both worlds it got going. By then I think I only watched about the first three or four seasons or something and then just got a bit bored and then went Oh, I liked um what was the one with Captain Janeway? Voyager. Voyager. I quite like Voyager. Yeah. Yeah. Oh yeah. There was the girl that was a nurse on Voyager. She was cute. The blonde one. Yeah. She had that little sort of Tinkerbell look about her. I like that. And on um Discovery, there’s a nurse on there as well. [Applause] Hello. Is there a boat coming up here now? Yes, there’s one. Oh, has that already gone past? No. Yeah, there is. Um, there’s a boat coming up. We’re in the lock down. They’re currently waiting for it to rise. Yeah. Yeah. Coming up on anybody going on. Yeah. Been a while since Well, never going to do anything again cuz they’re all dead. Oh yeah. Feel about old Aussie. Oh yeah. Somebody says only died at a young age. 76. And I says well I just I was going to say I’ll be quite happy to make it to 76. I mean for what he’s done to his body he’s done bloody well. I’ve been expecting him to die since the mid 80s. So I think we’ve all been expecting him to be you know headlines you know found in the bathroom in a polar pool of his own vomit. Well yeah. Have a good one day. You too. Excuse me. Some of these permanent morardens and all sorts. I mean, one of the kids playing [Applause] [Applause] A little bit of blue in the sky. Sorry, I can see a little bit of blue in the sky now. Yeah, it’s always a bonus, isn’t it? That’s all I had. Yeah. Not a lot of benches. No, cuz what we need is we need a bench at the halfway segment of our first segment. Oh, right. See what I mean? Yeah. Another half mile will be halfway to the halfway point. Oh, so we’ve done a mile and a half. Yeah, I think I’ve gone down pretty good so far. I think you’ve done all right. Yeah, but you won’t be saying that in an hour. But it gets to 3:00. We still not got the Burke Hamster yet. Oh, no, no, no. Cuz we’re halfway through you hat. Oh, yeah. We’re there. Thing is, once I get fed and watered and can sit down for a little bit. Yeah, exactly. We can have a nice break at the halfway, have a look at the town, have something to eat, and chill out for a little while. And then when you’re ready to go, we walk the other half and it’ll be, you know, two nice easy four mile walks. Absolutely piss. Cuz it sounds daunting doing an eight out eight mile walk to me, but I’ve done it before with you. Oh god. Yeah, you’ve done that. I don’t think you should be worried about 8 miles anymore. I think you’ve proven that you can do those quite easily. Yeah, I I think I think for you it seems to be once we get to about 10, a little over 10 at the moment, you seem to start getting flagging and well, I think it depends on the weather. You didn’t do that far around Brighton, but you [ __ ] by the end of the day. Yeah, it was exceedingly hot. Plus, I made the mistake of going out in the morning. I should have stay I did like 9 miles in the morning. I shouldn’t have done that. But the thing is, you know, when you wake up full of spunk and [ __ ] vinegar. Yeah. You know what I mean? So sometimes I tend to have times where I’ll wake up and I think, “No, I’ll go back to bed.” And then no, I’ll get up and I’ll go out. Yeah. And I I did that. But um when we went to Peter Bar, you know, when we started getting towards that um you know, back to the the uh that pot the uh canoe, I was spots then, but we done a good distance then. Oh, yeah. That was about 11 miles. Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. And that was kind of that was a long boring walk for a lot long part of it, wasn’t it? Really? Yeah. Cuz walking walking down that path, you know. Yeah. That that was there was no views. No, exactly. I must admit I was struggling with that one. I was wanting that to end. But um I don’t you know like you said I don’t think my SP my there’s no point in me trying to speed up. No. You know what I mean? But I think I’m getting better. I I think it takes me longer to longer to start whining. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you haven’t done it so much. I mean I Brighton was only the last 10 minutes had you walked up the hill you started to flag and then I think you Yeah I think by the time you flagged in Peterbury even I was getting tired so I thought you did pretty well that day I think it you haven’t done your walking walking dead thing for a while now really. Yeah. And in in in my Walking Dead mode, if Beyonce got out of a limo and said, “Come in and go down on me.” I just just [ __ ] off. Leave me alone. You can get anyone to [ __ ] do that. Just leave me the [ __ ] alone. Whereas now, I think it’d be all Yeah, I’m up for that, but I’m going to need a shower. But it’s funny how I can, you know, I can ride for miles and be okay. Whereas, what it’s cuz it’s just I found it odd because it’s so different. Yeah. Well, it’s a whole different set of muscles cuz I’m the exact opposite. I’ll walk and not notice it, but I only have to [ __ ] cycle a mile and everything aches, you know? Yeah, cuz one Saturday we’ll have to go or Sunday we’ll have to go out. But not a big ride. Yeah. Do you reckon you can manage hitching? Well, we’ll have to see. Yeah, cuz the thing is as well along the greenway there’s plentiful benches. Yeah. Or even if we just met at um cuz you live near the pavilion, don’t you? Yeah. Even if we met there and took a gentle ride into town, had a drink. I took a, you know, but um it’s weird how, you know, you’re using the leg. Yeah, cuz I was thinking, well, you’re using your legs, so why am I getting Well, this is the thing cuz when you’re walking, you’re not using these muscles, but when you’re cycling, that’s the muscles you’re using. And that’s why I think when you’re walking, you’re finding it hard because the muscles you do use, like your calves and whatnot, you’re not using when you’re cycling. So, you find it harder to walk, but easy to ride, whereas I find it e uh easier to walk. Yeah. And harder. Yeah. So, but it’s practice, you know. You must get used to doing it. as you’re doing a lot more walking around. But then as I get used to cycling, we’ll start doing a few cycle rides and then hopefully I’ll get used to cycling. [Applause] here. Oh, sorry. That’s all right. Thank you. I was wondering what that noise was. Okay. What was his daughter? What’s her name? Well, he’s got two. Um, the famous one. Uh, Kelly something. Kelly. Kelly. That’s it. Kelly Osborne. And then here Kelly Amy, her big sister, she’s the one that shuns the line, right? Isn’t she? Yeah. It’s the same as his first son as well. You don’t ever see him around. Ever really jacked his head, you see. This is quite nice. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] How’s mom? Oh, nothing’s ever. No, she’s all right. to take it to the dentist on Wednesday. She’s chipped one of her mers, but she’s only got two left. What mers? Yeah. So, bit by bit, she’s losing all her teeth. And the dentist said, “Look, I can fix it.” He said, “But when this breaks again, that’s it, and you’re going to have to have false teeth.” Oh my god, I can’t have false teeth. I said, “Mommy, you’re 87 years old. You know, there’s nothing wrong with having false teeth at 87. You know, it’s not like you’ve had them at, you know, since you were a kid or something. gone on holiday. Sorry. Well, he’ll be there now, I imagine. Gone on holiday down to uh to Wales for two weeks. Oh, nice. He’s taking all the places that we used to go when we were kids. We got we definitely we’ve had family down as well. So we used to go down twice a year and uh well summer and then you sometimes at Easter as well different places. I’ve never been to Wales. Wales is great as long as you don’t have to live there. It’s a nice place to live. I suppose down there if you steal a sheep, you’re not a rustler, you’re a sex trafficker. [Applause] one guy came in live out in the valley. Sorry. When I worked in Wales, we had a guy come in and a lot of them worked in the valleys, but he come one day. He said, “Oh, we’re getting a new leisure center.” I say, “Oh, good. That’ll be nice. Remember to feed it and water it every day. Wonder if Welsh girls are dirty. [ __ ] ones I know are best friend in uni. said to Rachel, “What to there?” There was Rachel and her best man, a couple of other girls, but there was the little four some um Rachel and her mate. And then there was these two lads, Chris and Joe. And they were all in the same classes, so they were friendly. We used to go ahead. But um one day just turned up. She says, “Oh, Amanda [ __ ] Chris last night.” And she’s a married woman by this point. And I said, “Oh, really?” She goes, “Yes.” She said, “They were out and got a little bit drunk and uh climbed a tree and had sex in the tree.” Yeah, but that has humor numerous health and safety. Yeah. Trying not to fall out would put me off. But the real problem is that is you you’ve had sex in the tree and you can only really tell your best friend cuz you were married at the time and it wasn’t with your husband. That’s going to be she’s that was her second husband and by this point she was only like 22. Sounds a bit cockappy. Yeah. Oh yeah. Well, I haven’t seen her in 10, 11 years. And I think she was on to a third husband then. Yeah, when she started uni, she had already had a daughter by the time she started uni. She had a daughter at actually had her at 16 and she got pregnant at 15. So yeah, she was a bit haven’t got a bench, but we do have a wall. A wall here. We sit on whatever’s the right height. Yeah, I might as well put this somewhere scenic. That’ll do. It’s taken us an hour to get there and we’ve done 2 and a4 miles. Oh, so another hour. It’s another hour to Burke Hamster. Yes. So, we’ll get there about Yeah. Fantastic. You were worried about getting rained on? Yeah. Yeah. Getting hot. Just sitting there thinking, I wish I bought a drink and then I thought, “Ah, somebody else thought of that.” Well, Yeah, I did all the majority of making sure everything was charged last night. So, um yeah. I’m bit sweaty. So, have we done two miles? Yeah, we’ve done about two just over two and a quarter in an hour. Yeah, that’s pretty good going for me. I think that’s right. That’s what I was thinking. I My average pace is about 3 m an hour roughly and you’ve done that in two and a quart. So, it’s not too bad. Seen anything road since you last saw her? I saw um not this week, but last week I saw her twice in three days. At least At least you you’re amicable. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. At least we we don’t you know we do have a bit of a laugh. At least you don’t hate the sight of each other. No. Yeah, I saw it like a week ago, Monday, and we were sitting there chatting and she noticed that she had like those um compression marks on her wrist. I said, “Oh, you’ve been getting tied up.” And she goes, “No, they’re from my work gloves.” Never really like bondage very much. She hasn’t done that very much. I said, “I remember doing it.” She goes, “Yeah, I know.” She did it with Hello. I’m ready. Maybe cuz I want to get to I want to I want to try and get to halfway by midday. Yeah, I think we’ll be all right. Then I’ll be happy. Yeah. [ __ ] running though. That’s too much. [ __ ] run. There haven’t been a lot of distractions as well on this walk, which is handy. I think the biggest one was that pub. Yeah. What you going to have to eat in the pub? I think I might have that boneless basket thing that I had last time we were in Was that St. Alburn’s? Yeah. Yeah, I like that. Nice. I know we won’t be in time, but it would have been nice to have a breakfast. Yeah, I thought about that for two seconds and my stomach started rumbling. Now I want food to be there in an hour. Yeah. So we can turn off into into the town, walk up the high street, have dinner, and then we can join the canal at the top end of the high street then. Yeah. Yeah. It’s amazing the things that you can do like with these in camera. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like uh like you know that those um those time lapses with the lights. Yeah. you know. Well, I mean, they’re proper professional cameras. They use them on the news and things like that, didn’t they? Yeah. You often see them in war zones and stuff with them on the helmets. Yeah. And um I mean cuz I imagine if it you know sometimes you if you use a different sort of camera you probably have to take it and go through some kind of ste you know software. Yeah. I haven’t done that in ages but it’s a bit of a killer though. Yeah, cuz you got Hey. Well, the thing is it it doesn’t help doing it in summertime. Yeah. Especially when it doesn’t start getting dark till 10:00 at night and then perhaps on a couple of nice pances I get a semideent day in um you you know kind of September and October when it starts getting dark at like 5:00. I can go there at 6 then it’ll be [ __ ] cold. But um crack up. You’ll be all right. But I just I just I don’t like the idea of like like kind of going putting them there, setting up and then [ __ ] off. No, I wouldn’t do that. Not around here. Well, not around there. It’d be okay if you lived in like a block of flats overlooked um you overlooked somewhere. Cuz you could just like stick it on your balcony and leave it. Hello fella. Oh, just stumbled a little. Hey, little dog. How you doing? [Applause] Okay. [Applause] Hey little dog. [Applause] Come on, Nick. It’s nice, isn’t it? Sorry. Yeah. A nice. I like the idea of having a nice canal side house. Can you imagine how much insurance must be like flood insurance when you live next to a canal now flat because I suppose if the water gets to a certain level it’s just going to overflow at the lock isn’t it and just keep going down. Yeah. But there’s still a chance I would imagine. Yeah. I don’t look like they’ve ever flooded though. It’s nice though. Nice little home office so they can work from home or whatever. Yeah, I know. Our first southbound barge. Hello. Have you noticed we now get dragon flies around Lewis? I haven’t seen any. But then again, you walk around in a drink. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I’ve seen quite a few. Never saw them when I was I remember the very first time I ever saw a dragon. I was on holiday with Rosie and we were in Scotland. Where where have you seen them around in Lera? Oh, I saw one in um the bottom of shot lane when I stood there talking to Rosie once flew past, but I’ve seen them a few time like around the fields and stuff. I thought they liked areas like this. Yeah. With water. Well, we got quite a lot of little Yeah, cuz through the common there’s loads of it, isn’t there? Yeah. So, I dare say they find it around and people commonly have ponds and things like that in their garden these days. So, I think people are a bit more nature conscious these days. They tend to make space for nature more. So, maybe that’s why we’re seeing never never saw one as a kid. I was in the 20s I think before I seen my first one. Did you say you found Did you buy anything at the boot sale this morning? Yeah. Um bought a dinky USS Enterprise and I bought a little Aussie figure, bobblehead figure. All right. Would it be funny if he was able to sell that for a few quid? Yeah. I picked up the eight price for four quid and a quick look before I came out. One an unboxed one was going for about 25 quid. If you find one in a box, they they start at 150 quid. Really? Yeah. [Applause] Do you think with Aussie it just everything just caught up with him? Yeah. His lifestyle. Well, I he went downhill rapidly when he broke his neck um on a quad bike in his car. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah. He never really came back from after that. The thing is, I mean, how old was he when that happened? We’ve seen his 50s, 60s.
