    Some shoes come with rubber soles completely covering the cleat bolt holes so you can use them as regular riding shoes and you cut out the rubber if opting to use cleats. This looks like some of the rubber just wasn’t completely removed

  2. Based on cleat wear it would be a good idea to replace and inspect the general condition of the attachment point and clean up the area.
