I’ve been working a lot the last few months. Recently I got a few big projects done in my sewing studio, so I decided to run away from the St Louis heat. It’s been so fucking hot.

I drove home and paddled, hammocked, and rode my bike a ton. My brain and body feel better. Riding bikes is so much fun. I’ve missed climbing and descending since I’ve been in the Midwest. I got a a bunch of vert and grinned on the descents.

I’ve been through 3 sets of tires on this bike. Rene Herse Humptulips, UD Cava, and UD Mars. They are all great tires .

The Cavas ride so good on asphalt. Ive suffered a bunch of punctures in St. Louis and put some UD Mars on. I never got a single puncture. The Mars feel the slowest of the bunch to me though. The Humptulips are my favorites. Grippy, pretty fast on asphalt, and pretty durable. If I lived somewhere with cleaner streets I’d probably run the Cavas a lot more.

I put those fork cages on this spring. I have mostly used the right one to carry water. The extra capacity has been great. I drink a ton in the heat.

All the outside pics are in Tennessee and North Carolina. The inside pics are St. Louis.

Thanks for reading!

Where in TN are you riding? Also, I’m so jealous of that frame bag. I can’t find anything like it.

  2. How does it handle with water on the fork? I always experience a bad oscillation when I store water on my forks…it happens on multiple bikes, although they have similar geo. It becomes dangerous at certain speed to the point where the bike becomes unstable. It only seems to happen with larger Nalgenes.
