One day i was commuting to work on my grizl and i meet a friend on the street. He told me i have a sick bike but pointed out that my bike has been hit from the back and something looked off. I brushed it off like he was halucinating or something and went to work. When i parked the bike i wanted to check just to make sure, and boy did i have something to see. The frame was cracked in two places in the right rear spoke. Then i remembered, i fell 7 days prior on some wet tram rails and fell on top of the bike. Back then i did a check and nothing looked out of the ordinary and it wasn't a high speed crash so i just picked up the bike and moved on. It is still a great mystery how i haven't noticed the frame flexing or anything as the broken piece was just held by the carbon threads.

I managed to get a hold of a guy that specializes in fixing carbon frames. I gave him the bike without too much expectations. There are many posts on the internet who say that carbon frames should not be fixed and will never be the same. But, to my huge suprise, when i got the bike back it was as good as new. He even printed the vinyl stencil of the grizl logo and rapainted it again. Needles to say i was very happy i didn't need to buy a new bike. The guy ensured me that the frames he fixes don't break as he claims none of them ever got back to him after he fixed them. A couole of respected bike mechanics confirmed he really knows what he is doing. I hope they are right 🙂

I mostly comute with this bike and do some light trail riding, no high speed or extreme stuff , i hope it wont snap on me some time in the future.

I had the same damage on my Endurace. LBS quoted me $600 for carbon repair and paint and Canyon Crash Replacement Program costs $700. Guess which option I chose?
