Some of you might have seen my post yesterday. (Recap: I was riding my Grizl 5 for the second time, had an accident, was found mindlessly roaming the woods, got hospitalised, barely remember anything, don't remember the accident).
After 24 hours, I was able to leave the hospital. I was already feeling much better and my cognitive capacities were improving rapidly. I regained more and more memory of the ride and what happened after the crash, yet the actual crash remains a hole in my mind. I did not know what happened to my bike, and the police told me to call them after 7pm to get some information.
Well, guess what? My beautiful Grizl survived! Not just that, but it was nearly unscratched. The only thing that happened to it was that the right brake lever was slightly out of place (inwards). I placed it back correctly and now it stays there as well as it did before.
I am now staying at home for a while and am recovering, but I am feeling better and better. Crazy story, and I'm thankful I survived.
Fun fact: when I was found in the forest, I was constantly asking the other people: "Who's bike is this? It's a Canyon! Wait, it's mine?"

I’ve been in a similar situation while returning home from a mountain bike ride. I remember being on a fire road and then suddenly I was walking through town with a scarf wrapped around my arm, pushing my bike along. A significant memory gap! After a hospital visit, it turned out that I had a broken wrist, abdominal trauma, and a cut up face.
A few days later, I walked back up to where it happened to look for my Gopro and actually managed to find it. It was recording at the time. The footage showed me turning on to the fire road from the trail and pressing the dropper post release to raise the saddle … the BAM!! A sudden stop! I went over the bars and hit the ground face first. I still can’t explain it.
Edit: That’s a lie, actually. I can explain it. The dropper post had a habit of sticking down. I most likely reached down to pull it up manually and accidentally hit the front brake. The gopro didn’t catch that due to it being on a chesty mount. It was absolutely my own embarrassing error.
That sounds strange. Did you ever have memory loss incidents? I’ve hit my head a few times rather hard (snowboarding) but never lost memory
