Footage has been shared across social media of an apparent tornado in Huddersfield yesterday evening. For it to be a tornado, the spinning vortex of air has to reach from the cloud to the ground just like that. Otherwise, it’s known as a funnel cloud, but that apparently is technically a tornado in Huddersfield. Who’ have thought? Should we ask that? I thought it was a funnel cloud. Oh, do you? Oh, really? And I can see Carol just out of the corner of my eye here assessing these pictures. And I will bow to Carol’s greater knowledge. What do you reckon, Carol? Well, if it has touched the ground, Saul, then yes, it’s a tornado. But if it hasn’t, then technically it is a funnel cloud, but they’re amazing. We do get them in the UK. We don’t get them frequently, I’m glad to say. And compared to Tornado Alley, they’re not as fierce, but they still are a force to be reckoned with.
