This is day three of cycling for Britain on a junkyard bike with basically no money. I ride north out of Cambridge, newly kitted out with an old helmet and a used pair of gloves, courtesy of Max and Julia, who hosted me the night before. It’s not long before I run into another bike packer. This is Jim, who’s on his way cycling to Oxford. I then ride north into the fence. Some really beautiful gravel paths. I do get rained on a few times, but I also make friends with a swan, so who’s complaining? As I finally make my way back to civilization on the other side of the fence, I ride through the town of Elely, which has a really impressive cathedral. And then I spend my first money of this trip, spending 1.38 on various groceries at Aldi, and then cooking my food in a nearby bus stop. It doesn’t matter how fancy your setup is. If you go bike packing long enough, you will end up doing this at some point. Bike packing is a glamorous business. I also successfully foraged some blackberries for some vitamins. Not today, Scurvy. Not today. I finished the day by riding into the sunset before finding a really nice place to wild camp in a nearby orchard. That’s day three done. 1.38 spent. [Music]

This could never be done in America lol. Did he say $1.38? You can't even get one pack of instant noodles here for that and you would never be able to "wild camp" anywhere without getting shot at or harrassed, likely arrested, by the police.
This is very inspirational!
