So what is MySnowboardJourney?

I started Snowboarding in 2022, quite late in life at the age of 31. After taking some lessons at the Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead I feel in love with the sport. I started to books snowboarding holidays to the alps but I seemed to really enjoy giving people tips and helping them on their own snowboard journey.

I decided to start documenting my snowboard progress from a beginner with the end goal of being a full qualified CASI Certified Snowboard Instructor. My snowboarding improved day by day, learning new snowboard tricks, how to carve properly and some free ride elements in trees and moguls.

I went to Big White In Canada in January 2025 and completed CASI level 1, CASI Level 2 along with CADS Level 1 which is an adaptive program for teaching those with adaptive needs. I secured a Job at Snowbility https://snowbility.co.uk/ teaching adaptive snowboard lessons and after applying back to Big White I will return there in the 2025/2026 winter season as a qualified snowboard instructor.

I hope to record some snowboarding vlogs, a day in the life of a snowboard instructor, record some lessons and show you all a different way of life. I am hoping once I have reached the threshold of YouTube to gain a subscription button I will off online coaching where I will offer video analysis of your own snowboarding footage.

Till then enjoy my snowboarding progression, lessons, tips, tricks and coaching.

My Name Is Kieran O’Keeffe and this is My Snowboard Journey.

but there’s some rewards in there for those that are brave enough to go searching for it uh I always find with trees don’t be scared of branches they do move just the big ones in the middle don’t so stay away from them but if I see a gap through some of the soft growth and it’s just fresh powder I’m just put my helmet forward and just going for that esso great that dirty right branch actually yeah I think the branch has gone free the branches didn’t move i went down they’re pretty solid i belong in the trees after years in Japan trees are just kind of where I feel the most at home especially when there’s snow that being said my finest moment in snowboarding was going down watching my friend just hit a tree head on and I kind of went and as I looked forward I just got closlined by a branch full went upside down from it but uh it’s actually a really good little task in there it’s kind of organic timing and coordination

  1. That’s actually the best advice I’ve never gotten but learned the hard way for snowboarding trees. I’ve tried to avoid branches that would have done me some damage but instead I hit the actual stump of the tree and that ended up hurting me a lot worse
