Hello,
I’m looking to buy my first Full Suspension MTB at the moment. After a lot of research it comes down to two different versions of a model:

1. Canyon Neuron 7 (Aluminium; 2299€; https://www.canyon.com/de-de/mountainbike/trail-bikes/neuron/neuron-al/neuron-7/3168.html?dwvar_3168_pv_rahmenfarbe=BK%2FBZ)
2. Canyon Neuron CF 8 (Carbon; 2599€; https://www.canyon.com/de-de/mountainbike/trail-bikes/neuron/cf/neuron-cf-8/3170.html?dwvar_3170_pv_rahmenfarbe=SR%2FBK)

The Neuron 7 is the newest version of the bike with (from what I found) great components for that price. It has everything that I’m looking for. However it has an aluminium frame.
The Neuron CF 8 on the other hand is not the newest model (CF 9 exists) of the carbon variant and has (from my understanding) sometimes slightly worse components.

From a weight perspective it’s no big difference. The carbon variant is not even 400g lighter. So as a first time Fully Driver I probably won’t even feel the difference.

Is there any reason that I’m overlooking to invest the 300€ more to take the carbon variant? Or is the aluminium fine?

  1. Have to correct myself: The Neuron 7 is the max line version of the aluminium bike. The CF 8 is not the max version of the carbon bike but still the newest version.
