My new tires are too big and occasionally rub on the cross brace/chainstay bridge connecting the chainstays.

I'd like to have 4-5mm clearance and would even go so far as to go to a frame builder for a new custom chainstay bridge/cross brace connecting the chainstays if I fail.

I wanna try building a 40mm dimple tool to dimple the cross brace and I know it's risky.

What are your thought?

Can I succeed?

Thanks for the help

Is that a brompton ? How much clearance are you missing ? If it’s a few mm, it might work depending on your skills

Not an expert, but on many frames that is not a structural piece and can be removed entirely without consequence

  3. If it was my bike, I’d do it (& have done similar stuff) without a second thought.

    So, you do you…

Now I’ll wait for the post from the dude with a CF frame who tries this.
