Day 14 of bike packing the Primitive Britain fundraising for November. Please, please, please drop a donation in. Good morning and welcome to day 14 of bike packing as much as I possibly can of the perimeter of Britain, fundraising for Movember. Please, if you haven’t already, go and drop a donation to my Movember page. There’s a link in my bio to that and it would be hugely, massively appreciated. First thing done. Second thing, today, day 14, the aim is to get to Glasgow from Fort William. It’s just over 200 km. It’s pretty punchy ride and I am definitely in need of a day off. I’m not necessarily as physically tired as I thought I would be, but I’m mentally really tired. I’ve left my toothbrush in one hotel. I’ve left my charger in another hotel. And I’m not the sort of person that does leave those things. So like my brain is just pretty exhausted. Leaving Fort William, you basically on your way to Glasgow follow a huge amount of cycle lanes and trails that look like this. They’re absolutely beautiful and it’s probably about 40 50 km of different trails as you head south towards Glasgow. Uh the route I would 100% recommend this route. There is a little bit of gravel on it, but it’s not too bad. It’s quite a compact gravel, sort of champagney gravel, so probably fine for most people. But the route just keeps winding. It keeps you off the main road quite nicely. Uh and the main road is not far away though, to be fair. And you just follow these lines. That’s the route. That’s the name of it. I would recommend it. And then again the rain came and it got absolutely soaking again for I think the sixth day on the Gro. Uh bits of it dodged it, dodged a bit of rain here. This climb was pretty amazing, but the uh the roads got quite busy at points and then the rain came back again. Again, very heavy. It seems to be just trying to really uh get me down, shall we say. Rain’s gone again. It kept coming and going, as you can see. But some of the parts of this route today were stunning. Got myself a Sturka GL50 just to keep the fuel up. Don’t really know what I’m doing here. Running along, carrying it in my mouth on another cycle lane. It’s like an old road this one. I’m guessing it was the old road that ran before they put in the big A road. But very beautiful running along next to one of the locks here as you can see. And then heading towards what felt more like civilization. So the outskirts of Glasgow. Got caught a wanker on a canal path. So, that was kind of funny. Uh, and got absolutely drenched again and a puncher. Unfortunately, a ripped tire, probably from some glass or something. Got a couple of rips in it. Not the best day. [Music]

Dude! Major kudos to you for doing this work and persisting through the rain. And another bucket of kudos for listening to your body and mind, taking a day of rest when you need it – a great example for all people learning to take care of their mental health!
Definitely looked like one of those Francis Cade “I love cycling” days!
I am enjoying the updates, and I am living vicariously through you! Take a rest, and you are doing great work!
