Some pics of Montreal & my bike + my thoughts on my tubeless tires.
I’m still getting to know the ins & outs of what running tubeless can really do to a bike.
Tonight I felt the pressure of the tires manually before heading out and decided they were fine. I checked when I got home from a 42km ride to find they were 30 psi in front & 33 psi on back.
Wow! 🤩 what a difference.
I did mostly road – but it’s Montreal so it might as well be gravel – and again, what a difference.
I’m presuming now the point of tubeless is exactly that. The tires say max 51 psi, but that’s hard as nails.
What do you guys suggest as a sweet spot for bumpy roads? I say again…like shitty Montreal roads, as a sweet spot psi?
Thx.

I like to start my ride at about ~5 psi less than what max fill would be. Nothing scientific behind that, just the sweet spot I’ve found for the 65/35% Road/Gravel riding I typically ride here in Colorado.
The psi on the tire sidewall is not what you should use. The silca pressure calculator is very accurate:

I generally fill my tires to the firmness of an avocado that’ll be ready for mashing in three days or so. If I’m doing softer gravel, it’ll be closer to a tomorrow-avocado. 🙂
