Hi! I’ve been training for a century ride on my small Salsa bike, but I’m considering getting a carbon bike because I’ve heard they are worth it. I’m still relatively new to distance riding, so I haven’t done much research on brands or types of bikes. Is it worth buying a new (used) carbon bike? Is the Felt bike worth $900?? Is the Giant Bike work $450?
The Felt ad also says “Ultegra 11 speed. Crank: 50/34, 172.5 length. Disc brakes. DT Swiss rims. Pedals not included.”
Giant ad says “Nice full carbon Giant TCR Areo all 105 component group get rides and shifts as it should. Looks like these are selling for much more on Ebay.”

How tall are you, that Giant is a pretty small bike. That Felt is worth the price IMO.
Go for the felt, yes it’s worth 900 imo. The giant is quite old and the bar tape needs doing. 8 speed 105 was a while ago, the technology is a lot better now.
The most important thing about riding distance is not the materials from which the bike is made or the label it has, but how well it fits you. A better fit could mean the difference between actually finishing your ride or not finishing while experiencing a strain, pain, or even injury. Don’t buy a bike because it has a name on the down-tube and great price, spend more and get exactly the right fit.
Felt 100% ultegra is fantastic and that is a comparatively recent iteration. But as others have said the fit is also critical. If you’re going for a century ride I’d recommend getting a professional fitting, it will make a world of difference
Felt is a good buy at 900. Giant is probably a little overpriced. In general, if you’re riding a century you’re going to have a way nicer time on the Felt, well worth it to spend double the Trek money IMO. Make sure whatever bike you buy is the right size, and do not go for something that only sort of fits.
