I’ve been looking for an aero bike for a while now and have narrowed it down to these two bikes/frames after testing. I’m currently still riding a Canyon Ultimate CF Pro from 2011 (with all new components).

Things to consider:

  • I do all of my own maintenance and repairs
  • I’m looking to start racing
  • I ride mostly in Belgian (Flemish) terrain: flat roads with occasional climbs, cobbles, and wonderfully pothole-filled surfaces
  • I’m perfectly fine with Shimano 105 — the groupset of the people

Any suggestions? 😉

  1. Very similar bikes. The first thing that jumps out to me about the two bikes is that the Scott is going to have a more consistent reach with a nearly vertical seatpost. The angled seatpost of the Canyon is going to increase reach as you raise the saddle. The other thing that would be a selling point if you are focusing on aero is stem length and handlebar width options instead of getting one specific size.

I have heard that the Scott Foil is a harsher and more aggressive fit on the bike, though I have no real world experience with it.

I’d take the foil but both bikes are limited in setup due to using a non standard steerer/bar system. I wouldn’t touch a Canyon, ever. Shit quality and slow service in the US, got a buddy sending back a CFR that had a poorly made BB hole and was losing paint for no reason.
