In August 2023 I did a big solo moto camping tour in Europe on my Africa Twin. I covered 10 countries and 3,000 amazing miles on this trip.
Episode 3: This was a day of riding through France from Epernay (France) to Geneva (Switzerland). Well, about 30 mins before Geneva and the Swiss border actually. Lots of quiet roads through villages and some mountain roads towards the end of the day rather than motorway.

okay so this is where I stayed last night little Campsite in EP so it worked out nicely that this little patch that isn’t really a pitch but is mine now just packed everything away I’m going to set off so the plan for today plan for today is to get to the Geneva well we camping there right let’s get you moving right we just bought some supplies the supermarket filled up with fuel got the charging Marathon going on here now got my that thingy block put in my pocket that’s charging I’ve got a different phone on the dash now cuz the other one has no internet for some reason now right ready to sort of get going properly now yeah I don’t know what all these little wasps are attracted to my bik for go away there my visor so they don’t end up in my helmet right hand side of the road that’s when it catches you out when there’s nothing else [Music] there so this is EP looks like we’re actually going through some of the center Noy the comedy Junction where no idea what’s actually happening think we had right way come on swing out it’s quite cool that looks quite cool more about champagne okay so just stopped here not sure where here is um a little it’s not a village it’s a town um it’s sat I’ve says just under 4 hours to where I’m going near Geneva now but yeah nice to have a little stop and something to eat and getting back on the road again now all right let’s get moving cuz it’s a bit warm temperature says 30 so that’s probably a little bit artificially high but it’s definitely warm especially with all your gear on can we’re losing late well I’ve already lost loads of L but yeah a bit like the last couple of days done not sure whether it’s a bank holiday or something in France cuz it’s a Monday and so many places are closed is lunch time of course but even so there just nothing seems to be open anywhere an Uber quiet as well see the rest CL St cool ICE scam cool seen a few of these comedy things for control show see another one of these comedy 24hour Pizza machines they just make fresh pizza whenever you want like a vending machine although yesterday I saw potato vending machines as well all good fun something to do with the national park of forest I think my brilliant French to English translations hopefully as you’ve just seen some lovely lovely roads through the sort of forest um get some decent speed up absolutely no traffic so yeah pretty cool place to be really getting warm though so I’ve stopped to get rid of some layers right let’s get cooled down have a drink as well that’s a bit better down to jeans t-shirt and mess jacket with no liner now although it says air tent 34 but it is warm strange speed limit not 50 not 40 but 45 a bir pre the other thing as well is just a lack of traffic here these amazing roads there’s no one on them I think you sort of forget how big FR is really bik the only people out it’s funny this road looks like a patchwork quilt with colors but actually it’s really smooth it’s F just patched it with different colors it must have rained or something earlier I just felt we’re back I thought it slipped and you can see under these trees it might just been the S but like I say I felt the F slightly move which is always uning guys B again here it’s strange but yeah certainly be careful under those trees like that sure there in the forest little by pass is quite nice there’s absolutely nothing on it just the occasional round BS of enjoy we should have actually turned it that last round easy if for not paying attention oh wow warm with a visor D think I’ll go without been riding with main visor up and then my internal Shield visor the dark one down that keeps the sun off and the wind out of your eyes but also gives you air flow so it’s a nice compromise Lo the truck sling his head off saying ha Miss Junction stop okay another little stop done somewh nice no idea where but the drink all good and let’s go to try and get some bread or quasons or something and it’s shut it’s the hours are on there and it it’s closed half the day the same cool nice little place though don’t know where it is of course that should pay more attention and I stop somewhere I should look it up on the map shouldn’t I but I didn’t sorry [Laughter] 127 going for it another nice little place again no idea where it is but it’s about an hour away from where I’m staying tonight can’t resist it’s feeling really warm now it’s still only well only says 30 it feels a lot warmer than it did before train station scener is changing again definitely getting a bit more mous and Rocky 911 it’s obviously going to be a good road it’s like quite a big place this and there’s some or eight thing going on all these FS everything’s selus so we must be in a place called selus selus bar World Rena 5 [Music] tur cool the waterfall there watch the [Music] road so we’re only about 15 minutes away from where I’m going to try and get camp tonight Gorge something or but yeah there’s certainly lots of gorges and just a while back lots of big rock places and stuff so pretty cool well that was a bugger just queued up half an hour at this res ception for them to say no space so I’m going have to find somewhere else um bit of a pain I could do without it really I was all ready to get off the bike but weren’t exactly friendly about it either anyway right onwards and upward let’s go B I
