Made this video for a couple of reasons.

    1) To show friends and family who don’t live here when I get bombarded with the 101 *”omg you ride a bike around in Chicago?! Aren’t you afraid of getting shot?!”* comments.

    2) To show coworkers who act like I’m competing in the Tour de France when I tell them I bike commute to the office. I’m not tough, it’s mainly a leisurely ride through pretty places with a few rough patches mainly from lacking infrastructure (*not in the video*).

    3) I just enjoy going back and seeing the city be alive in these videos, particularly during summer.  Folks jogging, the greenspaces, people enjoying the park amenities, kids riding bikes, people generally just going about their lives in the city we all share.

Clips are starting near the Albany Park neighborhood riding near West Town Chicago (*about 11-12 miles*).  Showing Horner Park, the channel trail, 312 river run and just a bunch of streets with solid bike infrastructure.

Beautiful ride!! Has Chicago put down a lot of bike lanes lately? Some of that infrastructure looks pretty new

I love seeing the families riding together in the cargo bikes. If I had to pick one metric for a good neighborhood, it’d be how many families on cargo bikes are there.

Chicago is an elite city for bike commuting 8 months out of the year. I lived in Logan Square and bike commuted for around 3 years from 2010-2013. Aside from getting to see my kids grow up and getting married, those were some of the happiest days I’ve had.
