During a stop I apparently, with precision bordering on laser designation, dribbled a blob of gel onto my front break, pad and rotor. So that is literally sugar sauce baked onto the rotor and the pad. The noise is terrifying to dogs, small children and most people wearing lyrca. Not coming off easily. Replace or cleanable/repairable/rehabilitatable?

I had a gel explode as I was opening it and got it all over the front disc of a hire bike in Mallorca. Was making terrible noises as you say, and stopping power was worryingly questionable on the mountain descent that followed. Seemed to have mostly burnt off by the time I got back to the hotel, though, so I didn’t mention it when I handed the bike back! 🤫
Sand paper, if that doesn’t do the trick I’d just replace both. Not very expensive , but cost enough it’s worth an attempt to fix in my opinion.
I had that stuff burn on once, was able to remove it with brake cleaner and replaced the pads.
