Exploring the canal du midi towpath on our bikes, the section running eastward from Carcassonne toward Trèbes and Marseillette.
This route winds along the plane and cypress-lined towpath. We stop at the locks to admire the canal boats as they manoeuvre in and out of the locks.
Claude Nougaro‘s song evokes “L’eau verte du Canal du Midi”. So true, so “paisible”; such a praceful way to spend a day away from the desk.
Beautiful pathway along the canal Dumidi going towards Treb and Laaya. A nice uh cool July’s day which is a blessing. and a lock. Speedy Gonzalez and really in her element on her electric bike. It’s been a revelation. I recommend all persons Not feeling like taking a traditional machinated bike to uh to try one out. [Music] I wonder if they’ll get in as well. Oh yeah. So, oh, there’s somebody up in the control tower there, I think, making sure that everything runs smoothly. So, these are on pistons, hydraulic pistons. Let’s see. I don’t let the water in too quickly. The boats are rising. Got to get them up two levels here. So, I’m not quite sure what elevation that is, but it looks like about 10 m. some Spanish. I guess people hire leisure boats here. I think uh my friend Dennis in Australia would uh like to see this. I think he had the inclination to do a canal boat trip. Not sure whether where Yeah. No, they’re all controlled by the guy over in the tower there behind us. Remember a friend asking us if we had leveling it up now. Huh? Yeah. I was attracted by the coffee. By their what? Coffee on the deck. Oh, yeah. You betcha. Very nice. Okay. To walk along to the next section. No experience needed. No license required. That sounds like it’s for about Dennis’s level. Just joking, Dennis. Anyway, this Yeah, cuz I know he wanted to do this. I’m [Music] sure that noises. [Music] Lovely. Right. Onward and upward for us. Oh, beautiful spot here. A lot of Spanish. I guess it’s quite different for them. Don’t know what the canal infrastructure is like in Spain, but this is lovely. Anyway, sure. So, we got the reverse reverse happening here. We’re going from up to down. I think this is the accus. I think it’s 9 m uh drop from the top over there uh to this first uh eclipse. Then a second one and then drop into that. Spectacular. Oh, careful not to go off the bloody tow path and crash into the What?
