  1. 3 options :

    – something is wrong with the locking mecanism and it won’t unlock
    – fork is in dire need of rebuilding and you’ll need a kit for that (rings and oil mostl), a bit of tooling and watch some videos.
    – fork is dead. But you’ll have to open it to check.

It’s a good fork, one of the best suntour did for Mtb.

  2. Are you able to actuate/release the remote lockout lever on the left side of your handlebars? That’s probably all it is. It may need an adjustment.

I would start with pulling it out and give it a service. There are guides on YouTube for it, for example: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owvSHNGLiF0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owvSHNGLiF0) but there are more video’s on it. Try to see if you can get a service kit with new rubbers and sealers, costs at my market 15-25 euro’s. If that doesn’t work install a new one fork.

For the new fork, make sure you order the correct one. As far as I can see now this is a fork with quick release, and non tapered 1/8 head sizing but measure it to be sure.

Aside of the problem with the fork : I hope you are aware that this red lever of the QR axle is in this position not correctly closed ? ( I’m asking this because I saw it already several times that bikers had absolutely no clue how to use it …) And about the fork : Suntour forks may look quite okay but either their performance as well as their durability are terrible ! The components inside ( the spring ! ) aren’t stainless and intruding moisture / water causes massive rust ! …50$ was doubtlessly a good deal for this bike and I don’t know if this amount is a lot of money for you , but : if you can afford it anyhow try to get a new fork ! For example the much more reliable RockShox Judy Silver TK 29“ Solo Air 100 QR was here in Germany often sold by online shops like „Bike-Discount“ for around 100€ only…
