Picked up a new Canyon Ultimate CF 7. This is my first modern road bike.
Prior, for years, my commuter and only other road bike has been a 1990 Trek 1420 with downtube shifters. I love it, but as I get more into long rides and potential racing, it hasn’t been cutting it at higher speeds and long descents. It is just a bit too sketchy at my experience level.
So I tried a few bikes and settle on this one. I’ve had the Canyon for only 48 hours and ~50 miles but so far I am digging it.
I love the deep blue. The stock saddle looked sleek, but wanting to personalize it, I expected to accent it in white to match the white Canyon logo. But after trying it with a white saddle, white bar tape, and/or white bottle cage, I found it just looked cheesy.
I decided instead to embrace the rich, dark blue & black and go with brown leather at the saddle and handlebars – parts which I borrowed from my fixie.
I like it so far. May get some gum-walled tires as well to make the brown pop a bit more.
