I would with certain chemicals for a living and found this at my local supply. This is not something you typically find at Walmart. I’m fully aware degreasers will often will damage aluminum so used a never maintained OG 70s stretched chain. The chemical was mixed 25/75 ish water/chemical. Much more than what’s recommended. The results were phenomenal. After 20 minutes in the bath, I simply sprayed with hot sink water. The slurry left behind was black and full of grit. I’m curious how long one can expose aluminum, paint or even plastic before it reacts as this stuff would completely strip rear derailleur gunk quickly. Interestingly, hidden rust remained intact.

That’s the stuff my parents washed my mouth out with when I got caught saying a no no word

The strongest I’ve ever used is Harbor Freight’s store brand degreaser. It has similar dilution ratios to OP’s Summit degreaser, and I’ve yet to accidentally destroy any part that I’ve used it on.

Despite experimenting with a bunch of various degreasers, I end up just using mineral spirits for any serious cleaning (technically, it’s charcoal lighter fluid since I’m in CA). I can leave pretty much anything bike-related in a bath of mineral spirits indefinitely without worrying about corrosion.
