Hey everyone,

My new Canyon Grizl 7 just arrived and I’m planning compact bikepacking trips (max 10 days). I’m looking for recommendations on:

Bike Computer
"Dedicated" unit but budget-friendly (around €150 – €250).
Any models in that price range that work well for gravel/road?

Bikepacking Bags
I’ve narrowed it down to:
Tailfin
Apidura (they did a collab with Canyon)
Ortlieb
Cyclite
Restrap

Looking for something with:

  • Great value-to-price ratio
  • Durability, light weight, easy mounting
  • Enough capacity for essential gear (on up to 7/10-day trips; I pack light and compact)

Questions for you:

What’s worked best on gravel for you, especially on longer rides?
Which computer gives you the most features for your money?
Which bag brand offers the best bang for the buck without falling apart mid-season?
Would love specific model suggestions or setups!

Thanks and see you on the gravel!

PS: If you’ve got photos of your Grizl bikepacking setup, please share – I’d love the inspiration!

  1. If you don’t need training functionality the Garmin edge explore 2 would meet your requirements. Based off of the 1030, large screen for mapping, plenty of battery.
As for bags, I’ve been quite happy with my giant h20 bags the past couple of years. Great value for money.

  2. I got the Hammerhead for my Grizl and it’s great.
Don’t buy the top tube bag from canyon if you plan to fit your phone in it.

  3. Nice bike, got one myself just a few weeks ago, in Affogato color as well. Mine is in Size S. Yours seems larger though.

I was supposed to start my first bikepacking adventure today but postponed it for tomorrow. I will try to remember post a picture of my setup.

But I went with Ortliet Quick Rack and 14.5L Sports Roller Panniers, with 13L Sea to Summit Riverbag dry bag on top of quick rack.

Will be investing in a Handle Bar bag to balance the weight, but have not yet found a suitable handlebar bag yet. I only have 20 cm from handle bar to the wheel, So I am kind of limited in options. And I can’t fit a Restrap Seat Pack 18L due to small clearance from seat to wheel. I am 173cm.

I initially wanted a Tailfin rear system, but the Cargo bag I wanted is still in pre order.

Enjoy your bike and good luck with rigging your bike 🙂
