I have a sleek, minimalist bike (Priority L-Train) that I don’t want to over-accesorize, so I’ve been wracking my brain to figure out how to carry my u-lock on my bike without stuff stuck all over it. Finally, it hit me as I was trying to find a way to mount a small bracket with cable ties… Just use cable ties! I strapped the lock to the top bar using 2 ties per side for redundancy, and didn’t tighten them all the way, letting gravity hold it to the top bar. The foam is a bit of pipe insulation, but I’ll be replacing that with something more subtle like innertube, or maybe even a section of tire.

Isn’t it a bit of a fiddle sliding it back on each time?
Nice! Good work.
Very cool! Is it secure on bumps? I use a 16lbs u lock similarly on my rear rack and it’s still shacky enough that I have to add a velcro to tighten it
