This week, we cycled toward a challenging 3,225-meter mountain pass in Tajikistan. On the way up, we stayed in the village of Safedoron, situated at around 2,500 meters elevation, where we experienced authentic Tajik village life. Surrounded by cows and goats, we connected with warm and welcoming locals. We tried milking cows and enjoyed traditional home-cooked osh, a hearty dish that is a staple of the region.
After a memorable stay in Safedoron, we continued our climb to the high mountain pass. The effort was rewarded with breathtaking views and a thrilling descent that took us all the way down to Kalaikhum, a town located at the border with Afghanistan. This stage of the journey combined cultural experiences, physical challenges, and stunning natural landscapes.
