Bonjour from Perpon friends. Now, I arrived here just under a week ago. And during that time, I’ve been asked by multiple local people, why did you come here to Perpon? And I’m going to tell you the same thing I told them. I was looking for culture, history, a place with low numbers of foreign tourists, and a place that is accessible for people who are mobility challenged. Remember, I’m still getting over my foot surgery. So, yeah, I definitely enjoy it. But let me show you exactly what I saw. Nestled in southern France near the Spanish border, Perpinon is a vibrant city with a rich Catalan soul and deep historical roots. Between the 13th and 17th century, this region changed hands between the French, Spanish, and the kingdom of Aragon. The art museum of highinthreu currently showcases the Milo Picasso seasonal exhibition running now through the 31st of December featuring over 100 sculptures, paintings, and engravings. Its permanent Baroque collection includes striking works by Reggu exemplifying 17th century art. A sculpture of famous artist Salvador Dolly references his 1965 painting Leastique de la de Brennon. The artwork depicts Dolly seated on a tall red chair with his arms outstretched welcoming visitors toward the station that inspired his vision. The iconic castle is a striking medieval brick fortification in city gate dating from 1368. Expanded under Louis the 9th in the 15th century, its distinctive brick turret in Notre Dame gate mark its evolution from defense of entry to symbolic landmark. The city is home to a stunning collection of churches that reflect its deep spiritual and architectural history. The 14th century Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is a Gothic masterpiece. Nearby, Camp Santo is a rare medieval cemetery. In the Sanjac district, the Sanjok Church stands as a symbol of community identity with its vibrant traditions and Baroque alterpieces. Luminescence is a nearly hour-long laser light show at the Dominican church celebrating Perpon’s 10,000th anniversary. But hurry because it ends on August 6th. A ride on the petite train of Pepinon offers a scenic and relaxing overview of the city’s rich heritage. Passengers enjoy charming architecture, leafy prominads. Vibrant neighborhoods, historic landmarks, and cultural gems, all while learning about Perbinon’s unique Catalan character, and layered history. The city’s plethora of statues and monuments honor fallen heroes and martyrs of past wars. Scattered across the city, they serve as a solemn reminder of service, sacrifice, courage, and memory, uniting history, art, and heart. Each sculpture tells a story etched in stone in silence. This statue also serves as the centerpiece for kids cyclepowered horse racing in the local park. The Palace of the Kings of Morca is a stunning 13th century fortress that once served as the royal residence of the Kingdom of Morca. Built in 1276 by King James II, it symbolized the region’s strategic and political importance. This Gothic style palace sits at top a hill offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding plains. It also served as a military stronghold. Today, visitors can explore its courtyards, chapels, and grand halls. An enduring reminder of PinΓ±an’s medieval past. Pinan’s cuisine blends French elegance with bold Catalan flavors. Enjoy tapas, fresh seafood, grilled meats, and specialties like ble de picolad in escalada. Local markets offer olives, cheese, and wines from Mousolone. From outdoor cafes to rustic beastro to fine dining, the city serves a rich culinary experience. The old city walls of Perpon, France, remnants of its medieval past, once protected the Catalan stronghold. Built for defense, they now frame the city’s history with fragments visible near the Castile and along quiet atmospheric streets like the ones we see here. While most of the old city walls were eventually torn down to allow for the city’s natural expansion, walls like the ones we see here were spared because homes were built directly upon them and now serve as a solid foundation. The Hotel Palms is a superb 19th century mansion transformed into an art nuvo treasure. Its lavish interiors feature marble onx stained glass fresco and a lush courtyard patio that are open to the public and they even host exhibitions and tours. Prepan blends rich history, vibrant Catalan culture, stunning architecture and heartfelt traditions offering visitors a unique and unforgettable taste of southern France’s soulful spirit. Thanks for watching.
