As a Prepared Citizen, practicing and planning for multiple scenarios is a main factor in living or dying. Right now, in Ukraine, Russians are using dirt bikes to infill to the frontline. Using items such as dirt bikes, atvs, side by sides, and other utility vehicles could very easily become an alternate mode of transportation.

Practice, train, and prepare now! So when the time comes, you won’t be caught off guard.

Heat. Heat. What’s up, guys? Scott here with Wandering the Wilderness. And as you can see, I was just doing a little little training, little patrolling, checking out uh my kit and uh running around out here and just thought it would be a great opportunity to just talk about um some things to potentially consider, we’d say, when it comes to patrolling. Um you know, patrolling is you’re going to want light and fast. You’re also going to want to be able to do your immediate first stage. you’re going to be gathering information and when it came to uh we’ll say a U SHTF, you’re also going to be considering the potential of engaging a threat or gathering intel to bring back to um you know your FOB for an operating base or to bring back to your camp depending on your situation. Um you know I I’m not a spec ops guy, right? So I’m not going to pretend to be. Um, I was just in the army. I have kit. I have gear. I’m in good shape. I am a combat veteran. But, um, you know, there’s things we can learn, things that we can do, information we can share and help grow and build each other up as a community. All right. So, um, one, I was just going to, uh, go over a few things, just have a little discussion and just show you some things of what I’ve got together in this, uh, ATV to be using as a good patrol type rig, you know. Um, right now currently in Ukraine, the Russians are using dirt bikes to come across the border and to do quick uh attacks on the Ukrainians. Uh, things like a ATV is something that many outdoorsmen have. We’re going to be using them when it comes to hunting, fishing, trapping, doing work around the farm or whatever it may be. And this is a great tool to use uh in the event that you had to. Um you’re going to get a little better gas mileage. You’re going to be able to get it into places that your personal vehicle isn’t going to be able to go. Um they’re more maneuverable maneuverable, agile, and uh you know, you got this one has a push button, two wheel, four-wheel, and differential lock. Um, this is the uh 2014 uh it’s a Grizzly 450. Um, have a front rack and a rear rack. And when I bought it, uh, the tires were pretty much bulb. So, I got a new set of tires that was a little taller, a little wider to increase some of that traction. I added this uh, cargo box, storage box onto the back. And uh I have a nice uh gun rack up there if uh say I’m driving and doing my patrol or even hunting. I can uh put my firearm up there to store it. Um I do have a winch, a light bar, and a chain across the front if I get myself stuck or in the event I need to uh you know tow say a buddy out that may have their rig that we’re patrolling together or doing some training. Um, say if I’m harvesting a deer, bear, something of large game, I can use that wench to drag it up and put it on the rack to haul it back to camp uh or home as a uh as an outdoorsman. And then uh you know, it’s a it’s just an allaround great vehicle or great tool uh that if uh you know, you can save up and afford one, I would recommend it. Um they have so many uses. Um, but what I wanted to show you is that, you know, I’m kided out a little bit. I have a uh Helilicon. This is their um trainer rig. So, what I have in here is I have two 9mm um magazines for my PS uh PSA dagger that I have on my hip with another magazine in. Um I have a uh multi-tool that has shears on it as well. I have a standard flashlight and then I have four AR mags that are full. I have a good first aid kit. This has a you know a tourniquet. It has triangle uh bandage. I have the uh let’s see, it’s a Nurelli bandage. I have chest seals. And then I have a My Medic EDC that has a variety of different things. I have a powdered drink mix and I am uh allergic to yellow jackets. So I carry an EpiPen which is also adrenaline. Not that I’m saying anything other than I need the EpiPen for the yellow jackets. All right. And then I also have a Kim light in case I need that. Inside this little zipper pocket here, I have my compass in the event that I need that. Now, right now, we’re not talking about grid down stuff is crazy. I can use my cell phone, but this is also my immediate area. I uh run out here probably four to five times a week to be honest. Um I I run around in here. Um I’ve uh killed a a nice uh nine-point buck just right over there. Um I come out here often. Uh but anyway, uh the the large pouch that’s right here. I have just a uh radio. This is a rad tail. It’s fairly similar to a valang. I have a uh digital rangefinder. Um these are the SOG uh shears multi-tool. I got them in a uh medic box, I believe it was called. So check that out uh that video. Um, this is a smaller keychain light, but it is white, red, and then the the black light, you know. So, in that low light, say I don’t want to give away my position using that red light is uh what that’s for. Um, I also have in here a write and rain uh all weather notebook and I have a pen and a marker. If there’s any intel that I need to document, something maybe changed. Um, maybe I’ve noticed a good food source. Um, I’ll be honest, while I was out here uh doing u preparing to shoot this video, I found a nice collection of chant trails. I do come out here and collect wild edibles, uh, particularly mushrooms. So, I’ve been keeping an eye out on them. I can document where I’m finding them seasonally. They’re going to pop up in the general location. All right. Um, I do have some good solid leather gloves with the hard knuckle. Very beneficial when riding, helping protect those knuckles from branches or briars or things like that. And I have my sniper veil as well as another pouch here with a tourniquet that stays on my rig. All right. And I have ID on me. Um I was going to throw on my dog tags. I didn’t. I don’t know why, but having ID on you is good. You never know what may end up happen. You get yourself lost. You become a casualty or a loot drop for somebody. at least there’s some identification and say one of your team members or um you know a fellow hunter um depending on the scenario may be able to potentially ID you. Now um when I put this box on this box was uh all black. I camoed it up and I do have a full face uh riding helmet which is what I’ve been using as I ride around out here. Um inside of this box now this box is loaded. All right. So, this could be your, like I said, this is your, you could set it up however you want. I have a business trapping and removing wildlife, right? Say if I’m running some trap jobs and I need to check my traps, I can load it with traps. For the purpose of this, I have it set up kind of twofold. Uh, items that I have in here, I keep in here all the time. Um, for say a a hunting uh emergency scenario, I’ve got myself hurt. I’ve got myself stuck. I’m going to have a a rough night, but I have items in here for that. And then I went ahead and added some extra items in here for the purpose of this recon uh kind of scouting patrolling type uh kit. So, uh first things first, inside of this kit, I have another bag. And in this here bag is a signaling device. All right. And then I have variety of different flashbangs, uh, detonator, concussion. Um, they’re loaded up inside of this pouch. This is a 37 mm, um, signaling device from, uh, Ordinance Group. And, uh, I can keep this inside of here. as a emergency item. say I get myself lost and I need to be found as a hunter or I need to uh detour a animal uh that doesn’t want to uh look at me as food or if I need to signal to get myself found or signaling a potential threat. I have options with this inside of here in this kit and with the uh this is the Black Widow um storage box that I bought. Um, it has a large pocket up here and I can store that up there nicely. Um, I also have in here is my this is my atomic defense. Um, that my atomic defense um helmet Mitch helmet. So, I already got that kind of camoed up and uh ready to to roll on that. Um I do have a light on the top and it is from uh Next Torch. Uh the light itself, I can program or sync it with other lights. Come on. Now, I can program or sync that with other lights. I can set it for IR. I can set it for regular uh light. Um brighten. If you’re working in a team and you want to identify uh your team by color, you can do green, red, or blue. Um you can set it up to be solid. You can set it up to strobe. Law enforcement kind of right there, right? And we also have white light if need be. Um and then it also does a a flashing pattern, right? Um on the back of this, it also has IR. So, say you’re running your night vision and you need to identify your team in the night vision. You can do that with that setting on IR. And inside of my helmet bag, I also have my uh digital night vision moninocular that uh is inside this bag as well. All right. So, again, that’s kind of a patrol kit type item. Another thing that you may consider to carry on your uh patrol kit um is a small drone. Uh again, another item that’s getting used, and we’re seeing this used in Modern Warfare all over Ukraine, is they’re using Mavics to uh to get the um the ID or to pick up the signatures or to, you know, plan the attack, get that intel to the troops that are on the line. And then they’re also using a little more equipped type drones to drop stuff or even resupply troops. Something like this has a 4K camera on it. I can send this out. I could scout this whole um you know there’s 130 acres right here in front of me. I can scout all of that from right here in this wood line and plan my route accordingly. So something like a drone is a a great item to carry in a patrol kit. And maybe, you know, you’re out in a team and you might have a guy who’s your drone operator. You might have another guy who’s your comms. You might have your your dedicated marksman. And then you have may have the assault type guy. You know, you got to build your team accordingly. But having a drone, if you’re a oneman running a patrol, not going to hurt anything. Um, I also have another digital night vision. Now, this is able to be scope mounted, but um or uh pick uh to be mounted on pick rail, but it is uh I like it better as more of a viewing scope. It is digital. It has a 20x, so I can um I could really check out a whole lot of things. Um I can use it as uh not night vision, just regular color. And then I can also use it as night vision. when you zoom that 20 times, it does get a little pixelated, but I could still ID some things potentially. So, I feel like that’s a good observation item to have in your kit. Um, if if you have one, you want multiple ways to be able to view and see what’s going on. Binoculars, maybe your optic on your uh firearm, your scope, um, or something like this as a digital zoom. Um, I’ll get into that in a second. This is a a large multicam tarp that came off of a um a full tent. Um it’s kind of dome shaped. I could use this if I had to to do a little better camo on the rig. I could also use this as an improvised shelter uh to string up and have something that I could get out of the weather and camouflage me into the environment. Um I also have this uh little uh roll of 550 cord. It’s a organizer. It does have the 550 cord. Um, it has a rope cutter right there. And then it has a waterproof section right here in the bottom. And you can put your lighter inside of that. And so you have lighter, paracord, and a rope cutter all organized in one. All right. Um, another item that I carry is a smaller camp type ax. It is wrapped in electrical cord. And then I do have some um uh rubber uh from a inner tube. This can help with building a fire in inclement weather. I have a a really nice uh saw that’s large to really uh do dimensional lumber. This is another item stays in here all the time. Say if something’s down on the trail and you need to get through, something like this can help process that. Maybe you’re making a new route and you need to get rid of some of those trees that are blocking the ideal path. Maybe you need to build an improvised bridge or you’re stuck and you need to get something to put under the tire. You know, the the you just it’s one of those things you just need to have on you. Um I also have a a non like a static rope. This doesn’t give. So, if I had to use it to uh for any kind of emergency reasons, um you know, you can never have enough rope. I don’t even need to explain why you should have that on you. Um I do have some bottled water just thrown in here loose. It’s already good to go. And this is just like a uh it’s called a X case survival kit. It just has a variety of little things. Some of it are like the the Chinese aren’t the the world’s greatest, but it’s options, right? I got emergency blanket. I got a folding knife, a paracord bracelet, carabiners, a ferro rod with a whistle, a spork. Um, this is like a multi-tool. Um, a little pocket knife, and some more rope. It’s just a one of those things that it’s not going to hurt me to throw in there and it gives me multiple more options of tools to have. And I also have the Cold Steel um Spitzenoff, I believe is the way it says, trench shovel. Now, I got the longer handled one. Um, these I had honestly never even seen until uh uh Zach’s makeshift uh mischief and makeshift whatever. I can’t remember his channel, but he won alone. Um, and this was the item he took and now it seems like everybody’s taking them. But, uh, this is the, uh, tool that I’m carrying. Um, one, it’s a great great shovel. Uh, you got the sharp edge. It is carbon steel. If the handle breaks, I can unscrew with the multi-tool, replace the handle. And this is an old GI um entrenching tool um sheath. And then I cut out the square the square in the center so that I could carry this cold steel shovel. And as you can see, it has the the old uh LBV um clips. Um actually when I entered the uh military we were still using those LBV with those types of clips. Um that was like the Vietnam type era. Um so those are the main kind of loose kit items. Now this bag, this is the kind of more of a a sustainment. It’s it’s a waterproof uh bag. It’s a Pathfinder, you know. Um I could fill this thing with water if I needed to for water collection. I can also throw it my shoulder with kit if I need to as carrying stuff out. All right, so that’s one of the the great benefits of that. And again, it’s camo even though it’s woodland. It’s great. Uh inside here, I have a a fleece jacket. It’s green. Um helps, you know, I got my camo there, but it also another layer to help keep me warm if it gets too cold. I have a LifeStraw water bottle. All right. Now, this is plastic. I’m obviously not boiling water in it, but it’s a life straw. So, I can fill this thing up with creek water, rehydrate, and I don’t have to waste any time doing anything. I don’t have to build a fire and give away position with smoke. I just can um use this as is. Now, ideally, if we’re talking patrol type setup, this thing, I would either spray paint it or I would wrap it in something like 100 mph tape or even camouflage um um like uh that medical wrap that would stick to itself, something to get rid of that blue, but I wanted to be able to show what it was. Um I also have the Stanley. Um this is, you know, these were very popular at Walmart. Little Stanley. um um little pot that you can also drink out of. Has a little strainer. Um I have fork spoon knife. Then I have a titanium cup in nestled inside with a roll of bank line. All right. So now I got more ways to purify water or cook food if need be. say I’m out here for a little bit and I need to really u make me something for overnight or to sustain myself. Um you know you sleep a lot better with a full belly, right? So that is just another option that I have inside of here. All right. This is um a setup for an emergency shelter. It’s an improvised super shelter like Morris Kahansky. Have the orange emergency space blanket, reusable emergency space blanket. I have the rope and everything in here for the ridge line with the pressing knots already set. And then I have a plastic um clear plastic that you can build your fire in front of. And I have two 55gallon drum liners and a bright orange um drawstring bag. Now, hunting wise, right, you get yourself lost or you’re out doing ATV type stuff. Having something like this, you’ve increased your visibility, but you also have an emergency shelter in here of bright orange type colors. Uh, say if you’re trying to even communicate to somebody on the other side of the ridge, waving things around like a signal panel that helps with being visible to get yourself seen. Um, you know, and uh it’s also a quick emergency shelter. everything you need to throw up a quick shelter. Um, then I also have in this leather pouch I made from Deerhide, I have a a screw top um a screw top plastic jar right here that that’s all coffee. Uh, you know, I just got to have some coffee and I like my coffee black. So, I don’t have to have filters and all that fufu crap if I don’t need to. I can throw it in that Stanley with some boil and water and make me some old cowboy coffee and I’m good to go. I also have a roll of duct tape. And let’s see, got some fatwood. And this is a um fire starter pouch. It has a variety of natural and man-made uh tinders and things that I’ve collected. Has a ferro rod, a magnifying glass, just everything I need to build a sustainable fire. And then the rest of these items are food items. All right, so I have this is the Patriot Supply 72-hour survival food kit. All right, everything you need for three days when it comes to nutrition. a quick kit. I have some This is pre-made. Oh, no. This is just uh flour. So, if I’m, you know, frying something, I don’t know, whatever. I have some uh high energy, tastes like crap, um freeze-dried coffee and chocolate flavored bars. I have a Oh, and then I have a uh a spicy pepper uh tuna, rice, and bean little pouch. 170 calories, 11 grams of protein. All right. So, with all those items in that kit that can stay in here and say an emergency uh hunting or out on a patrol, that could be sustainment for 3 days easy to either get yourself found, get yourself back, or maybe you’re just setting up a observation post and you have the items you need to get all the intel that you might need. So, uh maybe these tips, suggestions, or ideas might be good, uh tools for you. I would love to hear what you think and leave that down in the comment section below. Uh look guys, we’re not operators, right? We’re not Sale Team Six. We’re not Army Rangers. We uh maybe many of us that are sharing this information and these suggestions are veterans. Um I know many of us in the community that I talked to um were combat veterans. You know, we did a 10-year war. Many of us went that served in that time frame. Um, you know, so, uh, there’s a lot of experience that many of us have gained. There’s also a lot of us that are lifetime outdoorsmen, right? And we’ve seen things, we’ve done things, we’ve experienced things, and sharing that information can help uh, encourage each other. It’s fun to get out and practice. It’s fun to have the stuff and train. It’s good to exercise, and you never know when you might actually need it. You know, think about what’s going on in Ukraine. Think about what’s going on over in Israel. Whether you agree or don’t, they were invaded by a neighboring country. And if the citizens were better prepared, maybe as many lives wouldn’t have been lost. And uh I think many of us that put this kind of content out as a minute man. That’s kind of what we’re thinking. And that’s saving lives, protecting your family. So uh I hope this kind of helps with some of that. Uh, I will also add, I forgot, uh, under my seat of my ATV, I have a tool kit as well as ratchet straps and tow straps are under there. So, in the event that you’re going to mention something about that, those are under the seat. Uh, otherwise, I would love to hear any suggestions or tips or any ideas that you would like to share um or just encourage what I am doing. Uh, if that’s the case, please hit that subscribe, click that bell to notify. Thanks for watching, guys. God bless.
