Hey all,

Looking for a belt drive bike for general use/exercise. I do not commute. **This will be taken on paved roads, gravel, and light mountain biking.**

I currently have the Priority Ace of Spades which is a belt drive, single speed bike. I love the bike, but the super slicks tires, single speed, and wimpy brakes are giving me issues.

These are the three bikes I am looking at.

[Spot Bikes – Acme](https://spotbikes.com/products/acme-bike?variant=31914008215586) \- $1,200

[PRIORITY APOLLO GRAVEL – Priority Bicycles](https://www.prioritybicycles.com/products/priority-apollo) \- $1,425

[12 Speed Bike with Pinion Gearbox | PRIORITY 600 | Priority Bicycles](https://www.prioritybicycles.com/products/the600) \- $1,800

Fell in love with belt drive bikes, since they’re so silent and maintenance free so I am looking at these three options. I never was a good caretaker of derailleurs and chain drive bikes.

The Acme and Apollo are very similar since they both have the Alfine 11 while the 600 has the Pinion C1.12.

I’m leaning toward more the 600 because it’s look more geared for any type of riding and the Pinion gearbox seems to be very promising and reliable. When I bought the Ace of Spades from Priority, I got it between the decision of the Spades and the Apollo which I kind of regret because I feel like I am under biking with the ride conditions. I just wanted to save a cool $1,000+ which was a bad decision. Buy once cry once amirite? All of these bikes seem to be a very good price right now. For some reason the Spot Acme is $400 cheaper compared to the same bike in a different size and the Priorities currently have 25% off which I have never seen them do.

  1. I think it mostly comes down to how much gear range you want, and how you feel about the Alfine 11’s quirks. (It tends to leak, and you can only put so much torque into it.) I have an Apollo and I think it would work well for everything you’re wanting to do. FWIW I never run out of gears at the top end, but sometimes do when climbing.
