Today Irina has a challenge. We are going to Munich, which is about 180 Km. That’s quite a long bike ride for her. Hello bike-loving internet. Welcome back to my channel. I hope you enjoy the ride. I am sure we will. I repaired my headset. Bought tools and a new cassette. Turns out that the bearings in both cassettes were exactly the same. So, I didn’t need the tools. I just changed the bearings. And now I have to get used to it. The bike handles very differently. I can’t put my finger on it. But it doesn’t feel wrong. It is great cycling weather. Partly cloudy and 21 degrees. Time to rest and eat something. The unpaved paths here can hardly be called paths. Maybe I should check the box “Avoid unpaved roads”. I have experience with unpaved “paths” in Germany. You need a machete there. Wherever I cycle, I always come across a place I’ve been before. That’s what you get after sixteen years of long-distance cycling. I’m completely used to the new steering by now. the border is reached. Before we go on a bike ride, I check both bikes completely. I clean them, check the nuts and bolts. I discovered that Irina’s rear wheel did not run smoothly. It turned out that one of the plungers of the rear brake was running. I adjusted the brake, and the wheel ran fine again. But it now appears that the brakes have started to run again, and I can’t manage to solve it permanently. The wheel runs well, but at some point, it starts to run again. The poor girl has cycled more than a hundred kilometres with a heavy riding bicycle. I have now loosened the brake. She can still use the rear brake, but the calliper can now move freely. It also feels like there is air in the line. Unknown brand, I’ll put Shimano on it. I never had any problems with those. Our bike chains have seen better days too… Germany has no lighting outside built-up areas. The houses also have metal shutters on the windows. No light comes through there either. Wow, it’s dark here. But a fantastic starry sky. I have been looking for the hotel for quite some time. I booked at Münster City Hotel. But the name on the façade reads: “TrippInn” And they don’t have house numbers either. They heard me cursing all the way to Ahaus… But we have arrived. I am proud of Irina. She biked 197 km. Wauw. And half of that with a running brake. Good night. Good morning, we are going to visit the city. First, we must eat. In those cages were three leaders of the “Wederopstandingskerk” (Resurrection Church) brutally killed. One of them was Jan van Leijden. So, the expression “met een Jantje van Leijden afmaken” was born. It means that you have done a bad job. I don’t feel sorry for those three. They were bad people. This won’t make any sense for the non-Dutch… Good morning. I want to remove the brake completely, because it is still running. She can cycle home without a rear brake. But because there is a complete army of police officers at the station. Equipped with body armour and weapons, I decide to do that a kilometre away. No idea what’s going on, but it looks very threatening. Today we are faced with a choice. In principle we want to cycle back, but the weather forecast has changed. Heavy thunderstorms are now on the menu. We decide to cycle over Enschede. If those showers are coming, we can take the train there. If all goes well, the next train station will be Deventer and so on The rain is coming early, so we ride to the station in Enschede. Only no trains stop there. No problem, we cycle to Hengelo. That is only eight kilometres. We are almost home. All in all, this was a great weekend. Thanks for watching. Please, give a like, that helps the channel a lot. Bye.
