Recap of our latest biketrip, created with footage from 2 different Gopro`s (Dennis and me). Back to where it all began (Now w/o C19, testing, quarantine, etc…) This time the emphasis was more on the natural trails.
TLDR: 2 years ago I had a severe crash, had a long recovery and got recently back on the bike. I was not planning on such a trip as this but 4 weeks before departure I suddenly got green light from the Mrs (and the boss).
So, with little time and preparation (just some daytrips to Hörstel, Witten and Bad Iburg) I joined some TeamOnbenul members on a 9 day alpine bike trip for the first time in 2 years.
Fixed up the Tyee, which had seen no use since the crash and also brought the new electric Focus Jam². They share most suspension and transmission parts and it`s nice to have a choice (which was indeed convenient!)
TBH…I was not as confident and fluid as before but all things considered my riding was still oke. Offcourse a little more cautious, carefull and reluctant to jump but more than able to keep up with the others and not ruining the fun because they have to wait for me all the time 🙂
And too bad Thomas couldn`t join, he had to cancel due to illness. Next time M8!
On a side note:
SRAM DB8`s are shite…at least with a 25kg EMTB on alpine descents and 30dgrs ambient temperature. Squealing, fading and armpump all over the place, also a factor of less confidence. This was the main reason for favouring the Tyee (cause it already equipped with Saints). A set of Saints and 220mm disks are already waiting.
