  1. If you can go to a local bike store, then do that. The Amazon one is just a waste, it’ll be fine then it’ll break suddenly. Off brand parts, just a waste of time. The other one looks fine to answer your question, but that’s from one picture

Honestly a vintage bike would still be best when you compare it to the amazon bike

It’ll be a little more but go to a bike shop and get a specialized sirrus, trek fx, or something similar. As a beginner, you probably want a flat bar. If you order something online, it’s going to require some assembly. If you get the bike from a shop, they’ll assemble it properly and usually throw in a free tune up after a couple months. Also, warranty.

Are you looking at this through a local bike store who will supply and assemble the bike? Or are you looking to get it delivered to your home? The retrospec is probably a decent bike at its core, but you have to know what you’re doing to some extent in order to assemble it properly, check for any issues, and seemingly use loctite on some of the bolts. There’s plenty of threads on them if you search around.

As for the other one… never buy a bike from amazon.

You can get common hybrid bikes like a Trek FX, Specialized Sirrus, Giant Escape etc. for around $550. Sometimes a bit less in a sale. So it’s worth considering whether that extra $150 is worth paying for a store to professionally assemble the bike, and also give you a service after it’s been ridden in to make sure everything’s running right. Worth checking out your local stores at least, see what sort of deals they have on.
