Day 6 of 6 – The Isle of Raasay to Edinburgh.

An A9 day on the bike. “Hate” is a strong word, I’d say the A9 has the best scenery of any motorway type road in the UK. Would you agree?

I can’t believe how well this series has done, and anyone who has subscribed has absolutely made making these videos worthwhile. I hope you enjoyed them as much I enjoyed the ride, the camping and making the videos!

Have a great day.

[Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] hand [Music] cool. [Music] Hey [Music] [Music] Open hand [Music] cool. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Okay, made it to the ferry port in one piece. Those rows are a bit uh serious, but yeah, good good night. Good camp. very quiet, proper middle of nowhere job. But yeah, it’s been good. I think now uh just waiting for the ferry which is going to come at 8:55 and it’s now about half eight. There’s nobody else here. There was some other bikers surprisingly. I think they was surprised to see me as well. They must be who that guy was talking about yesterday. That guy at the shop, he was cool, dude. So yeah, plan for today is to head to Edinburgh. I’m meeting up with my girlfriend and two friends and staying there for a few days and that’ll be where the journey ends. So, I can’t imagine. I don’t think there’ll be two cinematic shots today, but um it’ll probably more just be music and head back. I think it’s going to take me about 5 hours or so once we get to the other side. So, I’m going to probably nip and get some breakfast and then yeah, just get going. Um, but the trip’s been good. As I keep saying, it’s been a great trip. This has been the wildest night for sure. This is like seriously quiet. I mean, if if you are thinking about coming to Rasi, the first about a mile of roads, you’re like, “Oh, these are great.” After that, progressively getting worse and worse. So when your satnav says it might take you about 40 minutes to do six miles, it’s not wrong. Um, but well worth a trip. Well worth a trip out. And if you’re on Sky, 6, seven quid to get the ferry over and six, seven quid back. It’s not bad uh to get a bit of real peace and quiet. But this is probably even a bit too quiet for me. But what an epic place. Um, absolutely awesome. Right, I’m going to wait for the ferry. I will see you in a bit. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] So I am now rocketing towards Fort William. We’ve done about 86 miles. Got 150 miles to go to Edinburgh. And that is where the journey ends. The closer I get, the more you start to think about that bed. Oh, and a pillow. That’ll be good. And I can have a shower whenever I want. Oh, nice. Can’t get over how lucky I’ve been with the uh with the weather. It’s just been so good. It’s barely rained. It rained a little bit last night when I was in the tent and was it yesterday morning when we when I was coming from Dess. But apart from that, the weather has just been amazing. Beautiful. Well, it’s probably that time to start thinking about the, you know, the the overall trip. And it’s been it’s been a good one. I mean, look at that. This is like a commuter road to Edinburgh or to, you know, to Fort William. Just every road up here is incredible. You get up to the Highlands and it’s just insane. And you can just explore wherever you want. You know, like last night I was on H Ras. What a wild place that was. Some right characters and a peaceful spot. But in my mind now, it’s just going a bed, hot food, a sofa, a sit down. Don’t have to build my house or tent. I just go through the door and there I am. I’m in. When you’re camping on these trips is a totally different experience to when you’re uh when you’re staying in a hotel, you know, as you can imagine, you know, it’s got benefits to it as well. It’s very freeing. You can just come on your own and everything you need is you’re just carrying it with you. cooking stuff, your tent, your sleeping bag, it’s all there. Just camp wherever you want. And the great thing about Scotland, and I hope it never changes, is that you can just wild camp wherever you want. And it is a beautiful thing about this country. It is beautiful. And it’s funny going to Ras I spoke to, you know, someone spoke to me on the way out on the ferry. There was some bikers. No one saying waving there. That’s interesting. That’s annoying. But uh yeah, there was a guy on the ferry on the way out who was talking to me. There was obviously the people that I met in Rasi and then I met some bikers on the way back who were uh who they didn’t venture as far as me out. They camp near to where the ferry terminal is. Fair enough, too. But um yeah, everyone’s just been very nice, very friendly. I don’t know if it’s because I’m on traveling on my own or just normally when I come on these trips with other people, it doesn’t seem as know people maybe don’t seem as talkative, but you’re coming on your own, you people are definitely more likely to speak to you, I think. Well, I’ve got I think about 46 miles to get to Fort William. where I’ll put some fuel in, probably grab a bite to eat. It’ll probably be lunch by then. And then uh yeah, keep rocketing towards Edinburgh. Like I say, this is more of just a bit of a a headphone in slog and blasting it down day today. It’s it’s uh just need to get there now. Just need to get there, get these clothes off, get out have a shower, and uh yeah, switch off. Chill out. I got to wake up now. I’ve been sleeping way too long. but to take up soon enough to sing a different song. She will not be easy. It’s a necessity. You don’t see what we see. You’re the one enemy. So you got to wake up now. You’ve been sleeping for too long. You got to wake up. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For the man with the gun. You got to know what goes around. Comes back around and forgiveness is the new song. will never forget but siling [Music] on this way too long to take soon enough to sing a different If you don’t see what we see you got to wake up now you see me [Music] right. This is my least favorite road in all of Scotland. The effing A9. They give you an idea of what the A9’s like. Speed camera. Speed. Camera. Speed. Camera. Speed. Camera. Speed. Camera. Speed. Camera. Speed. Camera. Speed. Camera. Speed. Camera. Average speed. Average speed. Average speed. Average speed. 60 mph. 60 mph. 70 mph. 70 mph. 60 mph. 60 mph. Dual carriageway. Not a dual carriageway. Dual carriageway. Not a dual carriageway for miles and miles and miles. Ah, anyway, didn’t end up going through Fort William. Went through um went through I just made sure the mic you can hear me properly. Hopefully you can. 11 mile average speed check it says now on my satnav. Um just got to relax. put it into cruise control and relax. Should have definitely cleaned my visor, but there we are. Deal with that another time. Um, yeah, I didn’t end up going to Fort William just to Oh, man. It is windy now. Hopefully you can hear me. Okay. Um, didn’t end up going to Fort William yet. uh ended up going to through the Kangs which was much nicer. I can uh only check in to this to this like uh Airbnb apartment job at 3:00. So I thought treat myself go through the Kang G which is a much nicer route than going like through Inanessa I think. Um got 88 mi to do. It’s probably going to take what about an hour and a half on this road. Could be 5 hours on the A9. Who knows? Um, but yeah, beautiful ride through the Car G. That was pretty awesome as well. I mean, every single piece. Yeah, I had to put off getting on this A9 road for as long as I possibly can. Um, which I’ve managed to do. So, I’ve only got what, 90 miles to do on the A9. Grabbed a bite to eat, put some fuel in before. Um, and yeah, just going to just going to power on through. Really, I mean, this is the problem that you’ve got, right? So, there’s a car in front of me here that’s doing like 50 50 55 in the in the average speed check. It’s like, do you not know what the speed is? Ah, and then there’s like barely anywhere to overtake. It’s a nightmare. 50 mph is a 60. Ah, I can’t be doing with it. I just can’t. There we go. Get past. Job done. Oh man, it’s a right annoying road. Just think about that bed. Oh, just think about the bed. Think about the bed. Think about the shower. Relax. You’ve had a lovely time. Relax. Yeah, bed’s going to be good. bed is going to be real good. But I am afraid we’re coming to the end of the journey. The A9 really signifies the end of the good stuff. Um, so yeah, I’m assuming I’ll be checking in when I get to Edinburgh, but uh if not, well, we’ll see. I won’t say if not I will check in in Edinburgh and we’ll uh we’ll do a goodbye for now until the uh next adventure when um when I get there. Right back to this absolute pilot. Made it Edinburgh. 1,200 miles. Job done. This is the end. And that’s it. Until next time. Bye. [Music]
