After trading away my Stumpjumper I was without a beater, purchased this for $80 CL to remedy that fact. I bought it sight unseen, only the photo below to go off. I swapped over the touchpoints from another bike that I’m remodeling, spent $85 on a rack/basket setup, and many hours cleaning and tuning, and it’s riding great.
It appears the previous owner spray painted the frame, which was a pain in the ass to get out of bolt holes but actually adds to the ratty look, the frame has an interesting patina on it. Mismatched wheels and derailleurs certify its “beater” status, and the 2″ road tires make it look like it skipped leg day. Only aesthetically, though, as this thing flies on the streets.

Sweet ride – send it ’til those dropouts crack!

Looks like a 1990 SM400 that has had some parts swapped out over the years. Seriously awesome bike. 20” frame?
