I was able to get a set of 1.9 x 26” gravel tires that my local lbs found in the basement for $25 each. They look worse in real life but ride like the wind! They look like rubber band wrapped around a rim lol. It actually lowered the bike to the point of pedal strikes while simultaneously turning and pedaling.
I took them out for a 3 mile backroad (tar and chip pavement) ride and my cruising speed is prob 30% higher for the same energy spent.
For reference the red bike is the same size frame and wheel.
For $50 my old hard tail is now gravel machine

  1. i did the opposite i put fat MTB tires on mine because im very often off road because half the time we dont even have painted death traps for lanes here its just grass or dirt thats got rocks in it and broken asphalt so its basically like light trail riding every day to work.
