Well, historically, if there was drama in the mountains, they used to send in the big dogs to rescue things. And maybe maybe the 15 teams that hadn’t got a stage win were hoping that that would be the case today, sending the hounds, see indeed who might come out on top. Big battle though, not only to be in the breakaway potentially, but also for the jerseys. Martinez in the polka dots. beliefs in the young riders jersey but really all the attention was on the GC players. What would Yonas finger and Visma Lisa Bike do to stop the march of Taliba? He leads this race. He looks in charge. But what about today? Well, if ever there was an opportunity to steal time, it was going to be right here on stage 18. The Glandon, the Meline, and the Lowe’s. A mountain that has on two occasions in the past beaten Tally Paca, but he’s on such stellar form. Could anyone beat him today? Well, it was a whole pelatin that was going to try, I think. 5,600 m of altitude gained. A day of pain. Quick look at the altimeter. Just said ouch. Look at that. [Music] Well, they waved us off and I’ve got to tell you, it wasn’t the most dramatic start to the day. Mainly because an intermediate sprint was up there after just 23 km of racing. And quite frankly, the pelatin seems to be in the mood that a sprinter should indeed take the green jersey. And the best hope of that is Jonathan Milan. Slightly uncontested that intermediate sprint. Then off the back of it, all hell broke loose. Of course it did. Tim Valance first to stretch his legs and UA member probably grateful that they would have somebody posted up the road like Vanart were up there as well for Visma Lisa bike. So all of the usual suspects you might say except for one. Primos Rugglitch a great man for the mountains. In fact succeeded here in 2020. Primos UAE is pulling is pulling fast. So don’t waste that much. Don’t waste that much. Well try telling that to somebody that’s just sunk his teak into a juothy steak. And that’s precisely what had happened. Roglitch was often up the road. Others, well, they were trying to make amends. In fact, the split in the pelatin was so enormous at one time the breakaway was bigger than indeed the pelatin itself. Lenny Martinez. Well, that was a slingshot if ever there was one. Save some energy. Possibly got a little bit of help right there. One for the jury, I think. Crossed the Glandon in first place, adding to his points tally until they had a look at it. Arosman also hunting down points and the pelatin itself hunting down a breakaway up the road and also itself starting to fracture. Well, whenever the terrain goes up, it also comes down of course and the culdeal. Some said that this could be a launch pad for greatness on the day and the great themselves were still at over a threeminute margin for those up the front. Well, such was indeed the impetus into all of the all category tests that not only the breakaway was thinning down, but the pelatin itself was getting ever more selective and in fact the gap was starting to tumble. We do it well at our pace. It’s only 25 guys left in the group anyway. Really good. Come on. Teleport responding. 25 guys left in the group. Well, this was forming and reforming. It was a a band of brothers, but leap of its I’m afraid looked like he’d been kicked out of the nest. And then Jonas Finger go finally had it the bit that is between his teeth and away he went. And guess what? Teleport Catcher was absolutely locked on laser styling. They both burned down their teammates. Who else would be up the road to help them out? Well, Matt Jurgensson for one. The man who said he’s not been very well of late. He rode brilliantly looked to be absolutely at his peak. So the roglitch group had been breached and the telepatcher shoulderto-shoulder with Yonas Vingo set off about descending. Leapitz on their case and the group with Oscar Odley divorced at this point by over two minutes with 64 kilometers to go at the head of the course. Jorgensson Okconor and Rubio a trio of great and then a bit of chitchat coming up. So get on my wheel. Let’s do this together. Florian Leipovitz needed the help. Finally, he set off alone and other teams, including that of Picnic PostnL, set off to deliver Oscar on to what he hoped would be a great day. Well, Jorgensson was on the blower, possibly called back onto duty. Meanwhile, Rubio and Okconor himself were alone, but not for long. Okconor pushed on. Had he gone too far with the big climb up to Coloss still up ahead of him? The Australian desperate to get this job done. He’s done it in the Welter. He’s done it of course in the Jirro Italia and right now the tour to France was beckoning. Just over 7 km to go and the Mayo Jean still at 3 minutes and 20. That margin was tumbling as you can see constantly and as we got closer to the line it looked now like Leapovitz was in a little bit of trouble and maybe maybe would be handing over the young riders classification and possibly his place hoping for that podium of course. Well the crowds encroached up front. Okconor had gone for it and had bridged over onto the wheel of Delipa which was remarkable. Okconor took the day screaming into the ether and indeed the hailstones. Well, maybe maybe he put a few of those in his G& later on. Meanwhile, a grand tour is what this is about. And the man in charge is Delhi Batcha coming home in second place ahead of Jonas Vingo at some margin. Oscar Onley also super brave denying a Rubio who would tumble into fifth place. Lots of other chops and changes as well within the top 10, but Felix Gal, Rogich, Adam Yates crossing the line. It was a great day and a fabulous day to be a Jacula rider, but especially if you happen to be Ben O’ Connor. That was fabulous. [Music] Kapow [Music] Okana takes it on and Rubio. It’s the biggest race in the world, but it’s uh it’s for sure the crulest. So, I’ve wanted to have another victory for for so many years now. I’ve been fighting with thirds and fourths and so close. But, uh yeah, I couldn’t be proud. Couldn’t be more proud of myself and and the boys. They backed me every single day this whole race, even throughout the uh uh pretty rough time. So yeah, thanks to everyone at JO Ola and uh yeah, it’s what the team needed and it’s what I needed. We all needed it. GC Stanley’s Teleacha extends his lead slightly over Yonas Fvingo to 4 minutes and 26. Sleeper still in third but being chased down only 22 seconds back to Oscar Onley who’s now fourth ahead of Primus Rogich. Spectacular racing yet again and it doesn’t rest up at all because tomorrow we head to La Plania and the climbing just keeps raining down upon us like punches from the sky. Two auto calorie tests. Three other categorized climbs along the way. Sage de Rosela on the agenda. Enjoyed today’s hurt? Well, quite frankly, you’re going to get more of it on stage 19. We’ll see you then for more great racing.

Interesting. When Arensman won and today O'Connor, no one says doping, doping.
If Pogi had won, every other comment would have been doping.
Pogacar…too good to be true… Just wondering
إنها المنشطات
Top GC are just having a nice bike ride, on really nice bikes and no real hunger to win the stage. Ben had a great day but this is a boring Tour.
Pogi isn't riding close to his limit past 3 stages, he sprinted all the way to the line at a summit finish on a queen stage means he left a lot on the table. Last few stages haven't ignited in the way we thought it would, he could have won today if he really went for it, same as stage 16 when Valentin PP won
Oscar onley was unbelievable today one of the only men to stay with the 2 big fellas when they went but tadje was once again on it 🎉🎉🎉
We love Ben 👍🏾
I'd find this more watchable if I could understand the commentary.
So much hate in yhe comment section…it's such a shame….i mean let's just enjoy these moments of road cycling..let's not spread hate and envy..becuase someone is better than everybody else he's doping??..come on! If tadej was doping he could hve won every stages ..because your athlete is always behind tadej it doesnt mean he's doping..he's clearly a better cyclist over all..accept it and enjoy the show!
Pog has now gifted 2 stages and only added a few seconds to gap to vini when could of added a lot more. Most would say thats clever putting in mimimal effort. However it would be funny if he wakes up with cold tomorrow and loses 5 minutes when he could easily be another 3/4 minutes ahead now.
Pojacar giving stage wins to others yet again 😂😂
This is becoming boring to watch, the race was won after the 8th stage without anybody having any ability to contest it. 🥱Glad the proper TDF starts in 2 days.
Hmm
I would have told Roglic to drop back and help save Lipowitz's podium spot and white jersey. Doubt he would have listened though.
"Tadej stop attacking so much, just slow it down and sit on the wheels. You're making it too obvious, take it from someone who's been there" – Lance Armstrong gives advise to Pogacar last year after his ridiculous performances. Pog seems to have listened somewhat.
Whats next for Pogi? TDF is clearly amateur hour for this so called goat rider. 🤮
Podcast onlookers half his drugs whoops 😂😂😂
Same old same old! It's the most boring cycling has ever been.
Sitting here with a third fusion of my spine thank you Ben when our down Aussie gets up and fights what a ride and thank you have just given me inspiration in my rehab
Whomever has got the best bike, the most powerful motor and PED's not yet on the banned list WILL win!
Team Visma | Lease a Bike and Red Bull -Bora – hansgrohe made tactical mistakes in today's stage. Visma tried to isolate Pogacar, which they succeeded at the Col de la Madalene when with a strong team they managed to get rid of the UAE riders and Kuss continued at a strong pace.Vingegard at that moment attacks and Pogacar stands right behind him on the bike and together they reach a group of brakeaway riders in which Roglic, Gall, Jorgenson are leading the group, and Rubio and O'Connor. At the beginning of the first ascent of the Col du Glandnon, Bora ran into the brakeaway with Roglic and put pressure on Onley, who is 4th in the GC, and thus tried to prevent Onley from attacking Lipowitz. Lipowitz is 35-40 seconds behind the group of GC drivers and is riding alone and expending more energy than the other GC drivers in front of him because the work is being done by Jorgenson. At that moment Onley is about 2 minutes and 15 seconds behind the group of Pogacar, Vingegaard, Roglic and Galla. On the descent after the acent of Col de la Madalena, Jorgenson is still driving strongly and Lipowitz is still alone. The Visme fault comes when in the valley after the descent and some 15km from the start of the Col de la Loze when O'Connor and Rubio attack that group and Jorgenson goes after them instead of continuing to work for Vingegaard and maintain a distance between them and Lipowitz and Onley. After that Lipowitz catches up with the group and attacks them and drives alone again. Lipowitz alone in the stage for about 65km and spent much more than the other GC riders and thus took away the energy to do the Col de la Loze good. Lipowitz ended the stage well behind Onley, who came very close to him in the GC, and Roglic also couldn't follow Onley because he was worn out from the escape that lasts over 80km. Visma and Vingegaard make only one unsuccessful attack on the Col de la Loze, and they don't do any more, as Vingegaard said they would, and Jorgenson himself wasn't much help on the last climb because when they caught him, he was immediately distanced from the group and couldn't help. Onley and Pogacar the great winners of this stage.
Pogacar is going to crack tomorrow
pogacar is just clowning…
Gall and Decathlon doing a great tour surprised!!
Pogacar is very generous. Who really believes he could not win today … after establishing the record up Mont Ventoux yesterday ? I feel tomorrow he wants to win.
Was that supposed to be commentary or freeform riffing?
For goodness sake – please learn how to pronounce Vingegaard! Vin ger GARD. Not “Go”…
