Yes. The trueing stand and repair stand are what make it worth it. Everything else is pretty dated for working on modern mountain bikes.

Most of the tools are very specialized and would rarely be used. The stand and truing stand are very useful and make up for that, though. I’d buy for those two alone

Doesn’t look like a bad deal. If you learn to wrench on your own, you’ll save money.

  4. That is so true! Cone wrenches go out of style so quickly. As do pedal wrenches. 😛 Come on, this is a pretty good basic set. It doesn’t have disc brake tools and some other specialized ones. But it definitely is a set that I’ll get you going and the price for them including the stands is very good. Snap it up, buy whatever you need to fill for your bike and you’re good to go! It’s a good score.

  5. Those stands alone are worth that money. So you buy them and you get a handful of tools tossed into? I’d buy that.

90% of the wrenches are going into the back of a drawer and never getting touched if your bike is from this decade. Also I’m personally not a huge fan of those crank pullers vs other types. As other people have said the 2 stands are worth more than $250 so I say go for it.

It kind of depends… If you want to work on vintage 10 speeds this is a really good set for the money! although the truing stand is older… It probably will not fit anything you’re going to put in there like a 29er or 27.5 wheel with tires on it.

It’s for sure not going to fit something that’s got boost spacing or a fat bike wheel something like that, etc.

The stand is nice but the clamp is literally decades old and is really good for crushing frame tubes. It’s cool because it’s vintage but it’s not like something modern that has the adjustability in height, etc

It isn’t what I would recommend to a friend who’s going to maintain their mountain bike I would literally try to find something a little bit more modern.

All the hand tools are something that I would pass on if anything if you really like the repair stand and truing stand you could sell those to offset the cost the shock pump and disc rotor tool are about all I see that are decent.

  8. The value is in the TS-2 and the PRS-6. The other tools are mostly for obsolete threaded headsets and cup and cone bottom brackets.

Maybe $150 is what I would offer.

  9. On a more serious note: these tools span decades. Side caliper brake arm bender (very Stone Age adjustment ). Every spanner wrench you ever wanted for 80s to 90s bikes . These remind me of when I was a young pup, I’m an old hound dog now.

I have a bike stand similar that, but with the quick release vertical tube . And someone opted for the more lightweight square tubular base versus the heavy, solid 5/16” inch steel flat plate “shop” base .

The shorter spanner wrench, mid height, extreme left side of the tool board? I have one . it’s not a Park tool. Looks like a Tioga BMX headset spanner from the early 80s. Got that for my ‘80 Kuwahara.

  10. Pin spanners for old hubs and a cable stretcher? This tool kit makes me feel old
