Tim Wellen stole the spotlight on Sunday, powering to a stage 15 victory at the 2025 tour to France just before the riders earned a well-deserved rest day. The Belgian rider from UAE team Emirates completed the hilly 105m route from Ura to Carasson in 3 hours 34 minutes and 9 seconds. It was a solo triumph with Wellins crossing the finish line over a minute ahead of Victor Camponarts and nearly a minute and a half ahead of a tightly bunched chase group that included Julian Alfalipe Wanert and Axel Lawrence. Behind the scenes of the stage win, Wellan’s teammate Tatage Pavikar quietly did exactly what he needed to do. Maintain his firm grip on the yellow jersey. Despite not featuring in the top 10 for the day, the Slovenian remains over four minutes ahead of Denmark’s Jonas Vingard in the general classification. Germany’s Florian Lipoitz holds on to third place, nearly 8 minutes behind the leader. The course tested riders with its relentless hills and blistering pace. 10 riders crossed in a dead heat behind Camparts, but Wellins had already put the stage out of reach. It marked another strategic masterclass from UAE team Emirates who not only claimed the stage but preserved their GC leaders advantage. The standings remain mostly unchanged at the top. Pagakar leads with a cumulative time of 54 hours 20 minutes 44 seconds. Vinggard trails by 4 minutes 13 seconds while Lipawitz is just under 8 minutes back. Oscar Hley, Kevin Valklin, and Primaz Raglick round out the top six in what has become a tightly packed chase group. With the Pelatin granted a break on Monday, anticipation builds for stage 16, a demanding 171.5 km trek from Mont Pelier to the infamous Mount Ventur. It promises fireworks, especially among the climbers and GC hopefuls. The jersey leaders remain steady. Podakar holds yellow. Italy’s Jonathan Milan keeps the green for points. France’s Lenny Martinez dons the pola dots for best climber. And Florian Lipoitz remains in white as the top young rider. As the final week approaches, the race up to could redefine the leaderboard or further confirm Pagakar’s growing dominance.
