Shimano free hub pawl has snapped. Had a puncture on my second ride and when I put the wheel back on and tightened it there was a snap. I don’t think I had put it back on correctly. Put it back on and the pedals were not engaging – spinning but now powering wheels – did it again and seemed all fine but free hub was silent. Opened it up and found this – pawl had snapped. Can I just buy a replacement pawl?

SOrry – should say “not” powering wheels, not “now” powering wheels
Maybe? But in all my shop years I’ve never ever heard of someone busting a freehub putting a wheel in I can’t even imagine how the 2 are related unless you tightened the axle with hulk strength and it somehow completely crushed the freehub inward which makes no sense. If it’s a shimano freehub isn’t it the one you screw off? Those things are not worth servicing whatsoever, pick up a replacement freehub body for 19$, screw it in and hopefully it never happens again. I wouldn’t want to fix a freehub that had a ride ending failure for no good reason.
I think you should be able to find spares online. Just make sure they’re for your specific freehub..
I had something similar, snapped when I put the wheel back in. Probably it was already damaged before, and somehow putting the wheel back in the dropouts snapped it. I had it fixed by my mechanic, as I know nothing about hubs.
If the other ones are springing freely, I wonder if you can just roll with 3 pawls.
If they’re not springing freely, lube until they do, and I still wonder if you can just roll with 3 pawls.
Those look like generic Odyssey_style pawls. I think it is possible to find a replacement.
